Album Notes 1966's NO WAY OUT, the first album by San Jose's Chocolate Watchband--easily one of the coolest band names in rock & roll history--is a garage-pop-psych masterpiece, and this lovingly remastered, expanded and well-annotated reissue finally gives it the respect it deserves. Although the average '60s rock fan probably only knows the Chocolate Watchband from their two killer singles "Let's Talk About Girls" and "Are You Gonna Be There (At the Love-In)"--both included here--they were more than a two-shot wonder. Songs like "Dark Side Of the Mushroom" indicate that they're no mere lysergic pretenders, and covers of R&B classics such as "Milk Cow Blues" and "In the Midnight Hour" betray their roots as a white-boy blues band a la the Pretty Things. This reissue includes eight extra tracks, including the immortal "Psychedelic Trip."
