I have played through this game twice now, and recently began my third time through.
I quite enjoyed the cliche references to star wars characters and events.
The over-the-top level of gore made the game even more entertaining, but places it firmly in the ranks of a M rating.
When I discovered the game had been pulled out of development to get it on shelves, I was disappointed, but it still provides a fully enjoyable gaming experience.
The protagonist is an otaku assassin who uses a 'beam katana' to dispatch his many enemies in an explosion of blood and internal organs, while they lament their untimely demise, (often despite a loss of their head.)
The boss battles are easily the best part of the game, but after all weapon upgrades are unlocked, the first few bosses go down without much of a fight, even on the highest difficulty level. However, unless you learn to use the beam katana to it's full capacity, each boss can be quite challenging.
Certain game elements could have been fleshed out, making it even better, and I wonder what the game might have been like if it had had more time in development.
The control scheme utilizes the unique capabilities of the Wiimote creatively, but does not require constant waving of the controller, minimizing exhaustion from constant movement.
If you get bored quickly with constant hacking and slashing, (and the high level of gore that goes along with it,) you will probably not want to purchase this game.
However, the side jobs provide a delightful break from the monotony of constant bloodshed, (if nonstop blood flow makes you queasy.)
From mowing lawns, to disposing of garbage, to eradicating scorpions, (careful, they're poisonous!) and even motorcycle stunts, the side jobs can be quite fun.
The game got near perfect ratings from most magazine reviewers, despite it's flaws, and I tend to agree with them. I would give it a 9 out of 10.
