This is a fun series of books, inventive and entertaining.

On the cover it says-The Miss Marple of Botswana. So true. A mild Lady with lots of common sense gets the job done in simple and practical ways. She has the soft accent which sounds like music to your ears. Her daddy leaves her enough to go into business for herself and she decides a detective agency is what she want. Mma Ramotswe had a lot of what you need to be a detective and she proceeded to help people find husbands, wayward daughters and a kidnapping by witch doctors. Refreshing to see things in a different perspective.

One of the most delightful books I've ever read. Only 235 pages, all of which were lyrically written and hugely entertaining. Heroine is charming, honest, practical and cunning Mma Precious Ramotswe of Botswana who wants to help people solve the mysteries in their lives. These mysteries involve, among other things, missing husbands, fraud, con men and even witchcraft, all of which she manages to solve.

Great stories, and a good way to learn something about African culture. A lot of fun, easy to read. The heroine was an unexpected plus who you think is not a surprising person until you get further and further into the book. This would be an excellent book for adolescents because of the combination of a different culture and mystery.

I bought this book to use for a book discussion group for a class. That being siad, i expected it to by nothing but short mysteries being solved. However, it has a lot of background information. Some chapters simply talk about Precious Ramotswe's past or her current surroundings. It was not bad, in any means, just different than one might expect.

I love this series because the plot is simple & sweet, but still interesting. I especially like to read these books before I go to bed at night. They are interesting mysteries without being violent. Botswana morality is also given high priority in these novels. No violence, No sex, & No vulgar language! How refreshing!
