| Description With each passing year, video gaming has become an exclusive experience. The complexities of some of the newest games have alienated those who used to play games with their entire families. Wii changes all that. Nintendo has created the most inviting, inclusive video game system to date. Thanks to this unique controller, anyone of any age or skill level can pick up and play games on Wii. And they will have an incredibly fun time doing so. That's not to say Nintendo has forgotten about the core gamer. Not by a long shot. In fact, Wii gives them the best gaming experience yet. Take a look at some of the games Nintendo and its partners have to offer, and once you try them out, you will be convinced that a revolution in gaming has begun. Soon, the future will be in your hands. When you get a chance to play, you will believe Wii is the next leap in gaming to a new generation. Over time, gaming has become overwhelming to people. Wii returns gaming to simpler times while innovating game development at the same time. The unique Wii Remote gives parents and grandparents a chance to play games with their children. It gives gamers and traditional non-gamers a chance to share the same experiences in this new generation of gaming. For those who grew up on video games, Wii shows that games have not outgrown them. Wii makes you feel less like a player and more like you're in the game. Frenzied sword battles are no longer confined to pushing a button. With Wii's unique freehand controller, Nintendo puts you in the middle of the action. Forget about pushing a button to start a golf backswing. Wii lets you swing the club! Don't push a button to swing a sword, actually swing the sword. Video games have always been a part of you, now you get to be a part of them. Step up to the next level of gaming.

I thought that the Wii wasnt going to match up to my PS3 I bought a couple of days ago but personally this 250 dollar system woops it up. It is a whole new generation of gaming. Although they have had games like this before such as Duck Hunt it has never reached this magnitude of gaming. The whole motion detected thing is crazy. It took me a couple of hours to get used to but I admit it might not have the graphics of a PS3 but sure is more fun because I feel like I am actually playing the game. Thanks for reading. So yesterday, I am playing my PS3 at 7am (Resistance). Great system. Anyways, I get a phone call at about noon from a friend of mine who just got home from target with his brand new Wii. He told me I had to come over and hesitantly I agreed. Now, Let me say for the record I LOVE my PS3. That said, shortly after I arrived at my friends I found EXACTLY what has been lacking in gaming. I couldn't believe how natural it felt. It took a little while to get used to but, WOW!! I left his house (around 2am) with his other Wii unit that he was planning on selling on Ebay. This morning I caught myself occasionally glancing the PS3 and thinking "I can't wait to watch movies on that thing..." as I was playing Red Steel on my brand new Wii... A side note, I can't wait for MGS on the PS3. The PS3 is awesome, the Wii is AMAZING. Review ID: 10000000002369431 Was this review helpful? I was the old, fat guy that arrived at Walmart on November 13th so I could sit and chat with kids about games I've never heard of. Why? because Sony was going to release something for me and my kids. THAT thing would be in my hands in just 60 short hours. I own everything Sony and love all of the products but... Then I strolled into my local retailer at 11:15 pm on November 18th after just spending 3.6 days in the lay-away department for the ps3 and much to my surprise there were Wii's available if you were willing to hang out for 45 minutes when the 12:01 launch would happen. 45 Minutes!!!!!! I had to wait 45 minutes for a Wii and 60+ hours for a ps3? Something is wrong I thought. $249 and wait 45 minutes vs. $599 and wait 64.7 hours. Hmmmmm, ok I'll wait and buy the Wii Three sons ages 5, 11 and 16 - The PS3 sat in the closet for 11 days and finally sold it today. Never played it, never opened it, never watched our favorite movie of all time (Go Ricky Bobby! Go!) in blu-ray. Absolutely no interest and they still burn up 4 hours a day with ps2 and Guitar Hero II. The Wii has been the centerpiece of our home for almost 10 days now. We will purchase at least 2 more Wii Systems in the coming weeks. Yes, it is that good! It is fun enough that 3 kids can't possibly manage the "shared time" of the system without somebody getting an eye poked out! Straight A students so they'll get their own units. There's nothing that compares. No, not Pong in 1978 and not PS3 in 2006. If Nintendo comes out with Guitar Hero or something similar and it is as interactive as the first 14 games released for Wii, then Nintendo will have the market wrapped up. For those that still have a ps2, enjoy it! For those that want a ps3, just buy a blu-ray player in a couple of years instead because once you experience the Nintendo System, you'll NEVER Wiiturn to the Ps3. Hats off to you hard-core gamers that will use the ps3 to enhance your incredible talents but for 90+ % of the world, the Wii is IT. It is the closest thing to virtual reality that the average household can afford. It also turns out to be a great value for any household! If I were a teen or even 20-something, I believe my date night would probably revolve around some Wii Events. Throw away the Buns of Steel videos, put the nunchuk in one hand and the wiimote in the other hand and play the boxing game. As one user wrote in this forum, "you'll sweat in places you didn't know sweat could happen" It IS a workout! This system is bringing parents and their usually-absent teens back together for some fun times. We're having a block party at our house this weekend and the kids in the neighborhood are "pumped" to have the majority of the party centered around Wii Tennis, Wii Baseball and Wii Bowling. Sound Nerdy? Perhaps but you go ahead and buy one and see how many hours of sleep you get in the 1st week of ownership! Addictive is an understatement! Absolutely MIND-BOGGLING ! The story of the creation of Wii and the 10 men who worked this project for 3 years can be found online and a great 20 minutes of reading! Check it out! The Nintendo Wii is the most inexpensive of the current generation of gaming consoles. It provides motion sensing controllers and 480p graphics. We tested the Wii before its launch day (I'm a game reviewer), and we had our own unit in our home the morning of launch day. Here are our findings. The Wii is designed around a menu of "channels". There is of course the game-playing channel, where the Wii will play any Wii or GameCube game. Simply load the disc in and go. There is a Mii channel where you set up a profile and avatar to connect to all your game playing. The Photos channel lets you look at photos on your TV. Other channels for news, weather, and online shopping require an interent connection; the news and weather were not actually working at launch time. The system does NOT have a regular network cable port, which both the PS3 and XBox 360 have. Instead, it works with built in wireless or with a USB network adapter. I am a firm proponent of wireless - less clutter! So I am thrilled that they offer wireless automatically. With the PS3, you have to pay extra for the 60 gig unit to get this built in. The XBox 360 requires extra hardware as well. It's hard to generalize gameplay on any console - it really depends on what games you buy. That being said, the comes-with-it software of Sports is really quite fun and is about as basic as you can get. You swing at baseballs, lob tennis balls, bowl, box and play golf. A "fitness" mode puts you through a variety of tasks and then calculates your fitness age, sort of like how Brain Age keeps track of your mental age. If you did both every day, you could aim to be as fit mentally and physically as possible! In a world where video games = couch potato, it really is quite amazing to have a game where it natively expects you to move and be active. You don't lounge back and gain pounds here while playing games. Boxing can be quite strenuous, jabbing, blocking and weaving in real life. Tennis involves quick reflexes and strong arm movements. Bowling might be the most relaxed of the sports, but even there you are standing, moving, swinging. You get your heart going at least a little, and get some exercise. My boyfriend had a sore arm after playing for a number of hours, in a good way, as he would from exercising. The 480p resolution is certainly not high def 1080p like the other two systems. It's something you accept when you're paying such a low price for the console. But really, it's not that big a deal. I still play the old Zeldas and love them for their gameplay, even though you can't see the pores in Link's face. If they are going for the cartooney characters and environments, 480p is DVD quality and is quite good. If you really, really crave high definition super realism in your games, then the Wii might not be the best choice for you. However, if you're fine with playing games with a more impressionist / cartooney look to them, the 480p can show that quite nicely. For example, there aren't fans in the stands for baseball - there are colored blocks. Nintendo has always been known as a "Kid's Console" - but I really do think with the Wii that they have become a "Family Console". It's not just kids who will enjoy this. Seniors can have fun bowling without knowing anything "Tricky" about how to use a video game unit. It's very intuitive. Moms can easily play with their kids, each with their own Wii profile. Adults having parties can have fun passing the controllers around. Family groups can Review ID: 10000000002441660 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
