Current review 2008: I have began to like the Wii. Everyone loves Tiger Woods 08 on it, etc.. I got Mario Kart for the wife.. Wii is progressing nicely and is now an asset to my gaming collection. I take it to events with alot of people. I'd say it is good for offline multiplayer, not so good still in my opinion for solo play. Definately have not found anything online multiplayer in my opinion that was outrageous fun yet.
Previous review 2007:
This Wii system in my opinion is ok, and it is reasonably priced as compared to the cost of a 360 or PS3. However..... Wii isn't really that impressive.
It is 2007, not 1985. In 1985 NES had nearly the same games if not better, and motion sensing controllers etc.. Like the gyro, light gun, track and field pad, etc.. Their is nothing new here, this is all old, and mainly reproduced. Wii combined the NES controller and light gun from 1985, and now in 2007 calls it an innovative Wii Mote and numchuck...
I'd compare the graphics of the Wii to that of an old Nintendo 64. I have yet to see any graphics that were impressive. Arguement steps in that people care more about game content than graphics. I'd agree to some degree. This system has great potential with the remotes, but what if you can't fit the potential programming on their small storage space CD's? Why has the Wii not done much of anything progressive with updates since launch? Google Internet for Wii is about the only progress. They advertised the system to download while it was off. Like you may get something free oneday when you turn it on. It has now been released for 9 months, and I never got anything while my system was off. I never got a free game from the Virtual Console, or anything. How long does it take to progress? This is a dissapointment, and a hoax of sort.
All games on Wii so far have mainly been poor reproductions. Do you remember Track and Field for NES? It got you worked up, the same as Wii Sports does. These new games don't excite me at the least. Wii sports was the only good one so far. I like multiplayer online games, and the Wii has failed so far. They will produce some, and that is the only reason I continue to support Wii. The potential is their, but it looks like it is not happening anytime soon. The games appear to be for young children, and ancient people. I do not believe this system has much going for a 20-35 year old. Children love it, older people like parents love it.. all my friends around 28 years old think it stinks. Their is not enough content to keep me interested at this point.
This is an actual review of the system, not one game. Sure when you loaded Wii Sports, it got the whole family excited. It soon ended, and got boring. My review here is of the actual Wii. Where as it seems everyone else is basing their review off the fun they had with one game that came with the wii instead.
