Big fan of the Wii.
Had my dad and his brother (both in their 50s) playing with my on it the first time last weekend &, even though they're not generally gamers, they enjoyed it. Dad liked the action (we played bowling & golf) in the game and that it made you get out of your seat. My uncle (we played the 1st Wii play game -- with the shooting) liked to shoot things, and that he could beat us all at bowling. It was different and is fun because of that.
I especially like to play active moving games like boxing in Wii sports or DDR...lets me get exercise without a gym on a rainy day.
Like many game systems, it comes with minimal gear...so really you need to 1 1/2-2x the cost of a Wii to get it set up with basic - 2-4 player remotes, a couple games - needs to really use it...more if you're looking at Fit, Rock Band, etc. So it can get expensive. On the other hand, I got 6 games used and a good e-bay deal on the system, so there are deals to be had.
