  My Wii

I am a 46 year old mom and the Wii I purchased after waiting in line at Target overnight is for me ... LOL
I love my Wii and I think it is the best gift I have ever received. My daughter and I played all last night and the stress from the holidays is now desolved.
I highly suggest your purchase and the time it will encourage you to spend with your family. Beware of addiction and happy faces.
Cheers

Wii Is The Perfect Game System For A Family

Do you want to bring your family closer together?... My advice is to buy a Nintendo Wii.. They cost almost 50% less then, the other game systems... And They do have better graphics then, I first anticipated... I own all 3 of the new systems (Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 3) and to be honest I would rather play my Wii than the Xbox Or Playstaion. My entire family got into playing the Wii (They Normally Are Strongly Against Video Games).. The Wii is the most interactive gaming system on the market.. Nintendo May Have Just Revolutionized The Way Video Games Are Played!! The Motion Sensitive Control Allows Players To Get Up And Get Active!!.. A Little Exercise Is Far Better For Someone Than, The "Old" Way Of Video Gaming (Sitting There Rotating Your Thumbs All Day).. I Originally Purchased A Wii To Give My Little Brother.. But, As Soon As I Hooked It Up For Him, I Was "Blown Away" The Entire System Is The Best System I've Seen In A Long Time!!
If You Can Find A Nintendo Wii, I Strongly Suggest Going Out And Purchasing One..

I Hope This Helps Make Your Choice.. This Is More Than A Video Game System.. It's A Way To Help America Become Less Obese...Consider This Before You Turn Down Your Child's Request...

Don't be fooled by most Nintendo Wii 14 game bundles!!!

BUYER BEWARE!

I cannot believe how many people are shelling out so much money for items that should not cost that much. I myself have recently been doing a lot of research as I just bought a Nintendo Wii system at Toys R' Us but had originally considered buying it on eBay (hence, the reason I created an account in the first place), so I got a pretty good grip on the prices. So let me break it down for you (keep in mind that this article relates only to brand new items):

A Nintendo Wii's retail value (as in just the box: the system bundled with a remote, a nunchuck and Wii Sports (5 sport games included) - along with other components necessary for the console) is about $250 (about $271 including taxes), so due to the unavalability of the system, I would be willing to spend up to around $310 (it must include a receipt) for it on eBay if I just had to have it ($350 tops). Now, you maybe thinking, "Easy for you to say, you already have one!" - in that case, read on to the end of this article for some advice.

Some of you may see that the bundle you could bid on has 14 games in it. Now, most of the 14 game bundles I've seen are just the Nintendo Wii bundle w/ Wii Sports plus Wii Play, which comes with a remote, (some auctions may also include an extra nunchuck). Now the retail value for Wii Play is around $50+tax (and an extra nunchuck is about $20+tax). Therefore, the entire bundle is about $325 without the nunchuck (around $347 with the nunchuck). If you just have to have it, I personally would only be willing to pay up to $450 (w/receipt) when the extra nunchuck is included ($500 tops).

Now, if you're at the point where you're willing to pay much more than you should (even more than I've suggested) in order to get the Wii, my ADVICE is this: A bundle that has more than just Wii Sports is better, but if you can get 2 or more actual video games* (because Wii Play is really one video game advertised as 9 games) added on to the bundle, you're bidding on a much better deal; for example: if the auction title said "Nintendo Wii Bundle w/ 8 games and receipt(s)" and when you click on it, you see that it has -- a Nintendo Wii bundle box (including Wii Sports) ($250+tax retail value) plus "Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games" ($50+tax retail value), "Tony Hawk's: Proving Ground" ($50+tax retail value), "Bleach: Shattered Blade" ($50+tax retail value), and the receipt(s) -- this together is about $400+tax retail value, which is a much better deal than getting the 14 game bundle that has Wii Play and an extra nunchuck (again, around $347 total). For my example I would be willing to pay up $550 ($575-600 tops). As you can see, you can be more confident to bid if the auction included real video games* as I like to call anything that's not Wii Play or Carnival Games, and the more games the merrier (especially if they come with a receipt) - if you're going to pay a lot, at least bid on bundles that get you a better deal because less people know about them and you're paying more for something that actually costs more.

So BOTTOM LINE, since every place is sold out, it's understandable to pay more for the bundles; just make sure your bundle comes with more real video games* (see previous paragraph if you skipped to the bottom of the article) - in a lot of cases, it may be a better deal to bet on the bundles where the auction title says it comes with 7-13 games rather than the more common 14 game bundle.

Really Great Way To Entertain Guests

I have to say that Nintendo did a really good job at allowing people to come together. It really is hilarious and definitely entertaining to see friends and family act goofy. I would definitely recommend this to someone who plans to hosts a lot of parties and events at their house. Nintendo has a line of great games, many that are children-friendly, that you can put in for hours and hours. However, I do not recommend this game for graphic heavy players. Definitely, as always, Nintendo lacks graphics for the sake of playability. Which isn't always a bad thing. Nintendo knows that their graphics aren't amazing, that isn't what they are trying to accomplish. But there playability is absolutely amazing. Use the Wii-motes as tennis rackets, gold clubs, a steering wheel, a sword, etc. Overall, I'd say get one if you were a big party host. If not, don't bother, it isn't as fun playing by yourself.

- out of 5 (5 being excellent) -
Playability: 5
Graphics: 3
Controls: 5
Games: 4

Overall, this is a great present for kids and younger teens. It is a way for them to enjoy video games in a way other then sitting on the couch for 3+ hours. They will be active, and I have to admit, some games even require you to sweat. Really great system.

This is a great product! But it can be expensive! I'm glad I found www.ultimate-free-gifts.co.uk where I got mine for free :)

All I did was sign up and then completed ONE offer. I recommend the CreditReport 7 day FREE trial ,OR the Seattle Coffeeoffer as it is FREE to complete and takes a few minutes!

There are many alternative offers you can complete such as the King.com offer where you have play through $5. There is a chance you will win your money back anyway!

There are many other gadgets I can get for free this way, such as consoles, iPhones, iPods, Plasma TV's and the list goes on

Visit: www.ultimate-free-gifts.co.uk

before you think about putting your hands into your pocket for this gadget.

The site can afford to send out these "free" gifts because you have to complete an offer first. They get paid commission when me and you do so, which is used to buy the gift with money left over as profit for them!

I hope you enjoy the extra $$$'s saved in your bank account from using ultimate-free-gifts.co.uk :)

Great system. It is fun to play because you almost fell like you are in the game. The Wii is also very easy to set up once you get it. A couple bad thing are that it's graphics arn't nearly as good as PS3. Alnother bad thing about the wii is it it still hard to get in the store unless you want to pay a lot more money on Ebay for it.   EXTREMELY FUN AND ADDICTING

This console is extremely fun and addicting. If you have got any of the old Nintendo systems or are looking for a new console then this is the one for you. Sure the graphics aren't great but that's easy to look past once you start playing it. The wireless controller lets you swing you arm to hit a tennis ball with a tennis racket or slash your sword at approaching enemies or steer left and right as you race your friends. The internet play isn't the greatest on some games but overall it's great. (except for the fact that you can't talk to anyone) There are a lot of really fun games for this system and young children can learn how to play extremely easily. This is a great family system and will have you playing it for a long long time. The system isn't as expensive as the Xbox or PS3. The games don't cost as much to buy either. Also online play is completely free! This is the best Nintendo console that has ever been released. I definately without a doubt in my mind give this a 5/5. Please vote if you found this helpful thanks!

I bought a wii, but unfortunately me seller was a thief and never sent it to us. Ebay tells me they have no control what happens after a transaction takes place and has done nothing to help me. I can't even talk to a live person, I have to converse through emails, which ebay never realyl answers directly. Lesson learned: BUY FROM A STORE!!!!!!!!

Combining the physical and the virtual for oldsters
Review created: 11/15/08
15 of 16 people found this review helpful.

My friend Dre got a Wii last Christmas, and I played for the first time with her nephews at a holiday party at her home. The graphics are excellent, as well as the sound effects and overall concept of the specific sports. One to leap in, I tried the tennis first and was astonished to note that my actual ability with a racket on the court did not help me much in the Wii version, since my energetic pursuit of corner shots and overhead slams did not garner me as many points as simply meeting the incoming ball with video-world timing and force. I learned for myself about the attraction of onscreen gaming and even got a bit of a workout (more with boxing, less with bowling and golf). Recommended for Baby Boomers who have not yet discovered WOW or texting and; yet, my two granddaughters, 17 and 9, had to be pulled away from their Wii play on their first go at it because it was so user-friendly and fun for them. Have someone else connect the Wii to your tv - bigger and clearer such as flat-screen is better - and the hand-held attachments are obvious and easy to figure out.

Wii Tips for purchasing. Think twice before bidding.
Review created: 07/14/07
13 of 15 people found this review helpful.

The Nintendo Wii is a great entertainment system. It is fun, interactive, and a great way to get your kids off the couch and possibly in to better shape. But is it really worth $400+? Consider the items you are receiving before bidding on a system.

A basic console at any retailer such as Target or Gamestop is $249.99, plus tax. An extra remote is $40 and Nunchuk is $20. So to get set up with a basic two player system will cost you about $350 with tax. Keep in mind that ALL new Wii consoles come with 5 games. IT IS INCLUDED. This is not any type of bonus you are going to receive for a listed item.

Also, many listings will say "14 games plus 2 remotes" This is because the console is being sold with the Wii Play title. Wii Play is an addition 9 simple task games that is packaged with an extra remote. The retail price for Wii Play is about $49, but you could possibly find it for less.

Consider the comparison

Target - Wii $249.99
Wii Play w/extra remote $49.99
Wii nunchuck $19.99
TOTAL + %8.25% Tax $346.37

This system would be exactly the same as other listinga you see as "NINTENDO WII CONSOLE + 14 GAMES + 4 CONTROLLERS"

As far as availability, Target was the best for me. If you call your local stores in the morning and speak with electronics, they can tell if they are in stock or not. On weekdays, your chances of getting one in the early store hours would be good, with no waiting.

Review created: 10/25/07(updated 08/26/08)

The Nintendo Wii was a great idea. The Wii sports come free with the system, which are a lot of fun to play.. Even though they are not the most realistic graphics for the game, the idea that you can swing the bat just like you are playing a real baseball game. Tennis is a great one too, you can hit the ball, backhand and forehand.

The way it works is, there is a sensor bar that reads the movement of the controllers that gets placed right underneath your television. The sensor box is not that big, so it is not that noticeable when you are watching TV. The sensor bar allows the controller to respond wirelessly with up to four Wii Remotes. The Wii Remote will reach up to 30 feet.

I would suggest playing at least 5-10 feet away from anything in the room, especially for sports games, since you will be swinging the controller around a lot. You should make sure you wear the safety wrist strap since you do not want your controller going through your TV..That wouldn't be much fun. :)

If you are looking for a third generation system that shines with its graphics, the Wii would not be the system to get. If you are looking for a good party system, that you can play interactive video games together, you will really enjoy the Wii, over any other third generation system. The only negative thing about the Wii is that they do not have many popular games out for the Wii right now, as where the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 have those kind of games with better graphics. If you do not care about Graphics and just want a fun inexpensive system to play(comparing with the other two), I would go with the Nintendo Wii.

If you have any questions about this system that I did not mention here, please contact me, I would be more than happy to answer all of your questions about this system. If I did not mention a certain detail that you would like to know, just tell me and I will add it here.. Thank You

  Love This system!
Review created: 04/22/07(updated 04/23/07)
11 of 15 people found this review helpful.

A couple months ago my hubby asked me if we could get a Wii, I broke down and said yes. We started searching and searching and finally after two months got one. I thought I wouldn't be to into it but once I got playing the games, I am hooked!

First the system itself is very slim and tiny. It doesn't have a tray that pops out or anything like that, you just slide the game in and go. The controls are easy to figure out (don't have a million buttons on them). The graphics are great also.

You can make a Mii, which you can do after yourself then when you play games likes Wii sports, it looks like a little mini you playing! There are tons of things you can add, you can even check your weather on the Wii!

The fun games like Wii Sports you get a work out on! The controller can tell your movements and so when you play a game like tennis, you really have to swing the controller like it was a tennis racket! It has a strap on it so incase you let go the controller doesn't fly across the room.

Set up is pretty easy, only took my hubby a couple minutes to get it out of the box and hooked up fully.

If you have never heard of a Wii and are looking for a game system, this is a great one to get. It gets you up and moving with the right games instead of sitting and starring at the tv like most systems. Plus the price isn't to bad (we got ours for $250, PS3 goes for $600, big price difference there and I think the Wii is a lot more fun).

Everything about the Wii is fun. The graphics are not as bad as people make them out to be, I've been playing Zelda and Red Steel nonstop, and the gameplay is phenomenal. You're completely engaged in every game wondering how you're going to have to move the controllers around to complete your next task... its seriously a blast. They just got the forecast channel up and running so you can check the weather from the home screen. I can't think of anything I don't like about it except that the controllers are priced and packaged separately, which seem expensive, but perhaps the motion sensing technology is worth it. Overall, amazing buy, your kids will love it.

Sleek little unit with unique features...

Well, Nintendo has done it again. They've taken the initiative to think outside the box and they've come up with the motion-sensing remote. While the other competition is focused more on more powerful hardware and better looking graphics, Nintendo has focused on innovation and new ideas. The result? A unique system that brings new possiblities to gaming. Get a workout while playing ping-pong or going bowling on your Wii. No longer is gaming just for kids, now all age-levels have a reason to play video games: excercise! And it's fun too! Sure, the graphics haven't improved much and the hardware doesn't even begin to compare in processing power to the Xbox 360 or PS3, but those things don't seem to matter as much when you've got something the competition doesn't. I just wonder how long it'll be before Microsoft and Sony come up with some form of motion-sensing controller too?

Other factors to consider: The price is the lowest of all three systems. Setup is a breeze. The system is easy to use and probably the most reliable of all three (just watch out for that remote strap breaking... don't let go of the remote!). Overall I think this is an excellent system and would recommend it to anyone, although the 16-26 demographic would probably be happier with a 360 or PS3.

  The truth about Wii...
Review created: 04/12/07(updated 05/15/08)
9 of 19 people found this review helpful.

Current review 2008: I have began to like the Wii. Everyone loves Tiger Woods 08 on it, etc.. I got Mario Kart for the wife.. Wii is progressing nicely and is now an asset to my gaming collection. I take it to events with alot of people. I'd say it is good for offline multiplayer, not so good still in my opinion for solo play. Definately have not found anything online multiplayer in my opinion that was outrageous fun yet.

Previous review 2007:
This Wii system in my opinion is ok, and it is reasonably priced as compared to the cost of a 360 or PS3. However..... Wii isn't really that impressive.

It is 2007, not 1985. In 1985 NES had nearly the same games if not better, and motion sensing controllers etc.. Like the gyro, light gun, track and field pad, etc.. Their is nothing new here, this is all old, and mainly reproduced. Wii combined the NES controller and light gun from 1985, and now in 2007 calls it an innovative Wii Mote and numchuck...

I'd compare the graphics of the Wii to that of an old Nintendo 64. I have yet to see any graphics that were impressive. Arguement steps in that people care more about game content than graphics. I'd agree to some degree. This system has great potential with the remotes, but what if you can't fit the potential programming on their small storage space CD's? Why has the Wii not done much of anything progressive with updates since launch? Google Internet for Wii is about the only progress. They advertised the system to download while it was off. Like you may get something free oneday when you turn it on. It has now been released for 9 months, and I never got anything while my system was off. I never got a free game from the Virtual Console, or anything. How long does it take to progress? This is a dissapointment, and a hoax of sort.

All games on Wii so far have mainly been poor reproductions. Do you remember Track and Field for NES? It got you worked up, the same as Wii Sports does. These new games don't excite me at the least. Wii sports was the only good one so far. I like multiplayer online games, and the Wii has failed so far. They will produce some, and that is the only reason I continue to support Wii. The potential is their, but it looks like it is not happening anytime soon. The games appear to be for young children, and ancient people. I do not believe this system has much going for a 20-35 year old. Children love it, older people like parents love it.. all my friends around 28 years old think it stinks. Their is not enough content to keep me interested at this point.

This is an actual review of the system, not one game. Sure when you loaded Wii Sports, it got the whole family excited. It soon ended, and got boring. My review here is of the actual Wii. Where as it seems everyone else is basing their review off the fun they had with one game that came with the wii instead.

This system is a large upgrade for Nintendo from the gamecube with twice the power but a fraction of the size. The controller is a change for the better since it is very easy to use and it acts as a pointer off of the persons arm, plus like the console it is also much smaller and sleeker. You can also download many games at affordable pricmany other classic consoles its a great system plus a very affordable price, but one soon as possible.

We bought this as a gift for our children and we have all enjoyed it so much! The time our family has spent together, making 'tournaments' and challenges is so worth the price of the game system! My kids range from 7 y/o to 15 y/o and my husband and I are both in our 30's. WE ALL LOVE IT! Even my father (grandpa) came to baby sit and he played for hours with the kids! Easy to work, set up and play! Highly recommend! :)

graphics a bit too preschool cartoon level

8 of 14 people found this review helpful.

I didn't buy it for the graphics, but for the interactive game play, the bowling is the most realistic, but its funny to see the characters in the bowling alley, they are legless, bobbing cartoon people, lol, I haven't played it much, except for the bowling, but the guy I was boxing, never threw back a punch at me, maybe i need to play it longer, baseball was interactive and pretty on target accurate, tennis, you just hit the ball and it always goes back over the net no matter how you hit it, kinda weak, only played golf a few times, kinda hits the ball for you, on most the games, you can just flick the remote with your wrist without moving your body and it will work, you could actually play most the games sitting in a chair and just flicking the remote with your wrist and play the games, do the boxing non stop for 30 minutes a day and your couch potato butt will get smaller.

pros: interactive and better than sitting on butt like playing other games

cons: preschool cartoon graphics and some games don't require any skill, just
just move your wrist and it will work.

Unless you want some exercise only, right now, pay over $300 for it on ebay now, or wait a few months and get it at Best Buy for 249.99.

  Two Sides of the Wii

I really don't like the Wii at all. I bought it and played it for awhile at first and then the gimmick wore off. Every game does the same thing. Twist, turn, or swing. Wii sports is the best game out for it so far, and it's the free game that comes with it. If you're into looks and graphics and things looking great, especially HDTV owners, then don't get this system. On the other hand, if you're a teenager or a kid who has people over at your house all of the time, this could be fun for you. If you're not though, get one of the other gaming consoles and you'll be much happier.

The Wii has been the most family fun time on a Game System. Wii has an option for wide screen TV's or standard TV's. This interactive system will make Mario Party 8, Big brain academy Wii degree loads of fun and there's bowling, baseball, golf they are all fun to play on the Wii.

  Games made FUN once again

Nintendo's newest console makes gaming easy regardless of your age or gamer level. I have a hard time trying to stop playing it, it's that much fun. The secret is in the Wii remote, which uses motion sensors to react to your movements. The Wii remote becomes your sword during action, your bat as you hit a homerun or your steering wheel during a race. For the first time, you're in the game. You're kids will beg you to stop playing, so they can!!!!

An Inexpensive Gaming Console for the Whole Family

The Nintendo Wii is the most inexpensive of the current generation of gaming consoles. It provides motion sensing controllers and 480p graphics.

The Wii is designed around a menu of "channels". There is of course the game-playing channel, where the Wii will play any Wii or GameCube game. Simply load the disc in and go. There is a Mii channel where you set up a profile and avatar to connect to all your game playing. The Photos channel lets you look at photos on your TV. Other channels for news, weather, and online shopping require an interent connection; the news and weather were not actually working at launch time.

The system does NOT have a regular network cable port, which both the PS3 and XBox 360 have. Instead, it works with built in wireless or with a USB network adapter. I am a firm proponent of wireless - less clutter! So I am thrilled that they offer wireless automatically. With the PS3, you have to pay extra for the 60 gig unit to get this built in. The XBox 360 requires extra hardware as well.

It's hard to generalize gameplay on any console - it really depends on what games you buy. That being said, the comes-with-it software of Sports is really quite fun and is about as basic as you can get. You swing at baseballs, lob tennis balls, bowl, box and play golf. A "fitness" mode puts you through a variety of tasks and then calculates your fitness age, sort of like how Brain Age keeps track of your mental age. If you did both every day, you could aim to be as fit mentally and physically as possible!

In a world where video games = couch potato, it really is quite amazing to have a game where it natively expects you to move and be active. You don't lounge back and gain pounds here while playing games. Boxing can be quite strenuous, jabbing, blocking and weaving in real life. Tennis involves quick reflexes and strong arm movements. Bowling might be the most relaxed of the sports, but even there you are standing, moving, swinging. You get your heart going at least a little, and get some exercise. My boyfriend had a sore arm after playing for a number of hours, in a good way, as he would from exercising.

The 480p resolution is certainly not high def 1080p like the other two systems. It's something you accept when you're paying such a low price for the console. But really, it's not that big a deal. I still play the old Zeldas and love them for their gameplay, even though you can't see the pores in Link's face. If they are going for the cartooney characters and environments, 480p is DVD quality and is quite good. If you really, really crave high definition super realism in your games, then the Wii might not be the best choice for you. However, if you're fine with playing games with a more impressionist / cartooney look to them, the 480p can show that quite nicely. For example, there aren't fans in the stands for baseball - there are colored blocks.

Nintendo has always been known as a "Kid's Console" - but I really do think with the Wii that they have become a "Family Console". It's not just kids who will enjoy this. Seniors can have fun bowling without knowing anything "Tricky" about how to use a video game unit. It's very intuitive. Moms can easily play with their kids, each with their own Wii profile. Adults having parties can have fun passing the controllers around.
