Top Reviews  Great Portable Gaming 102 of 108 people found this review helpful. You can read my other reviews & see I am a big SONY fan. I love my PSP but this system is Awesome. PROS: A solid improvement over the Nintendo DS, The DS Lite is noticeably slimmer, lighter and the screens are quite a bit brighter & have better viewing angles than the original DS. It also has 4 brightness settings compared to the original DS which only has 2. The new buttons are more pronounced and I think they have a better quality feel to them over the original DS. Game load times are a bit faster than my PSP and battery life so far has been an average of about 5 1/2 hours. CONS: The multimedia content is still only available in Japan. Aesthetically, GBA games protrude out a little too far, although it is nice to have the compatibility, they look a little out of place. They now have flash cards and pass cards available for the DS lite which will eliminate the protruding issue and offer storage of downloaded DS games along with many other options, but it will cost you. To learn more do a google search on Nintendo DS lite flash cards. Online gaming can be irritating. The WiFi capability worked great but finding players online to play with is another story. Random games are not as easily found as they are on other consoles but if you are playing a popular game at a good time of day your chances of locating some competition are much better. Graphics do pale in comparison to my PSP. No audio/video playback or web-surfing capability. All in all this is a great unit for portable gaming and I would recommend it to anyone interested. Faster load times & hours of game play make this unit worthwhile to own. If you want to have the most mature game titles and a somewhat average multimedia playback ability then a PSP may be a better investment. Please vote YES below if you found this review helpful.
