Ninja Scroll (DVD, 2003, 10th Anniversary Special Edition)

I really enjoyed the story line in this film. It was engaging, full of action, and whimsical at times. I liked the characters. I also thought that the art was well done and not cheap looking. Overall a very good film.

this is one of the best anime's of all time about a nomad ninja from the opening battle to the constant confrontation with superpowered villians of very unique abilities

This feature is a great classic of anime.
Ninja scroll is the spark that ignited the anime fire in the western world and it can still hold it's own against the best selection of modern anime greats.
This film follows the fictional rendition of a historical character 'Jubei' and his coincidental part in a power struggle between demons and parliament.
It's common in Japanese media to make reference to historical Jubei by using his first name, and separating history from fiction by giving him a fictional surname.
In this case, it's Jubei Kibagami, a retired ninja soldier who is forced out of retirement by an old espionage agent Dakuwan who blackmails Jubei by poisoning him and offering the antidote as a reward upon victory. Jubei must fight along side Kogero- a Kunoichi who is desperate to prove herself worthy as a ninja- against the "demons" who have manouvered to rise against the warring shogunate factions to achieve an empire to rule over.
The two ninjas and their ever-watching espionage advisor must battle and strategize their way to victory against Lord Gemma and his demon soldiers, each with increasingly adverse and weird 'abilities' to obtain diplomatic stability, to prove themselves as warriors, and to discover the secret of the antidote.
The story has twists and turns, the action is portrayed in a spectacular fashion, the character relationships develop as the plot thickens.
If you love, like, or tolerate anime and HAVEN'T seen Ninja Scroll... your life is not complete and never will be... buy or rent today... you wont regret it.

Even though its more than a decade old now, the animation still holds its own, and jubei is one a character who remains an epic hero. If you heard of this, you already know what the story is about and how well the story telling is. If you havent... youre just missing out on some of the most original villains and heroes.
I havent seen in a long time.

This movie is an excellent movie to start your anime collection. This is an instant classic and one of the best anime movies of all time. It has an excellent storyline andgood action scenes.

This is one of the best anime movies to date. There is plenty of action and the storyline is easier to follow than other anime films. I would advise not letting your children watch this one though. There are too many adult themes for any child.

In my own opinion this is one of the greatest ninja anime movies of all time. I know the reviews say it's great but the fighting,characters and overall plot is very good. I loved this movie when I first saw it on VHS years ago and just had to get it on DVD. If your an anime fan this is a must have for your collection, even if your not into anime and just a martial arts movie watcher this is a great movie even though the characters are cartoons. A must see movie at least once in my opinion. RDS
