Ninja Gaiden (Xbox, 2004)

Hype is tough to live up to and it seems whenever Team Ninja and Tomonobu Itagaki create a game for Xbox, the expectations go off the charts. With Ninja Gaiden, Itagaki pledged to create a game with incredible graphics, lightning-fast gameplay, an ocean of blood, and an experience to remember. Throughout the long development process, numerous things could have gone wrong to foil those lofty promises. With the wrong type of enemy AI, combat could have become a derivative experience. Had Team Ninja gone for cookie-cutter level design, a long game could have felt a whole lot longer. If the controls weren't perfect, the Prince of Persia-like platforming would have been a nightmare. However, none of these horrible things happened. If you've been tootin' the horn of the hype train, keep on chuggin', because Ninja Gaiden is one of the best action games around, filled with innovative design, a deep combat system, tons of secrets and oh yes, enough blood to satisfy Carrie on Prom Night.

Good game. Its very challenging but fun. It plays like Prince of Persia. However, unlike Prince of Persia, there is less focus on puzzle solving and more focus on fighting and action. I would recommend it to anyone.

I played the crap out of this back in the NES days. I was sceptical at first to see it on xbox, until I played it. Thankfully I was proven wrong. This game is amazing, the maps are huge. Its one of those games that take time to beat. You can even unlock all the old NES and SNES Ninja Gaidens finding every Golden Scarab.

By far one of the best games i have played on the xbox. The graphics make use of xbox's hard drive and the game play is awesome. The fighting combinations are great and the scenery has been designed well. The story plot is interesting and real easy to comprehend.

If you ever dreamed of becomming a Ninja (or not) you will have a lot of fun playing this game. Very challenging and plays a lot like a fighting game with a great story mode to follow along. You can pull of some very fun moves and the graphics and sound are top notch. If you have not played this game get it or get Ninja Gaiden Black which has even more of the same stuff.

Well where do i began. ok the game was great , but when we earned game disc in the game. when we went to the arcade machine or even main menu the game would not load at all. the description did say ninja gaiden classic 1, 2, & 3 were on the game but THEY WERE NOT! Aparentley it says for the game but really only the classic is really only palyable on the Ninja Gaiden Black. BUMMER!!

Great game. Big fan of the series. Comes with the oringial trilogy that can be unlocked, has amazing graphics for its time, and is still my favorite action game to this day.

The original Ninja Gaiden was considered too difficult by many gamers and so a Black edition came out. I find this game to be very user-friendly (except the camera angles) and challenging. It isn't the cream puff game in which you never die. It is well worth the investment and arguably better than the XBOX 360 Ninja Gaiden II.

Its a new classic and a great game for fans of Ninja Gaiden. Awesome graphics and grwt game play equals loads of fun. I can not wait until the sequal drops for Xbox 360.

Bought the game for my son cause its something he wanted and we could not find here in our area. The game was in excellent condition.

This is the first Ninja Gaiden games released, the other 2 are Black and Sigma. This is the easiest of the 3 but it is still hard if you've never played it. It has a super battle system that relies on speed, timing and accuracy to pull off many attacks. Most of the weapons are upgradeable and with each upgrade you'll unlock more attacks. The level designs are a mix of fighting with some puzzles thrown in to break up the action. The enemies can be tricky but there are subtle attack patterns which can be exploited if you have patience. Overall its a great game worthy of its difficult reputation, the only complaint that I have is the camera doesn't stay behind Ryu, it shifts according to the action on screen. You'll find yourself changing direction to counter the camera angle or press the right trigger will center the camera behind Ryu. Anyways back to fiend slaying, lol.

Ninja Gaiden is definitely one of the most challenging games ever made, and quite possibly the most challenging for the original Xbox. The graphics are amazing and Ryu's movements in the game are incredible. Although the difficulty is a tad high, it's a fun hack-n-slash for experienced gamers. Overall it's one best games for the Xbox.

I love Secrete,Fly around Like "Jacket Chain" Ha! But that more then Jacket Chain because Ninja Use a Power Sword,Thor Star And all different kind weapon. Trying to Find Away and Earn More Power Dark side! Plus One More Thing? That graphic Art is Phenomenal! I love it!! So, anyway I thanks to the seller and also ebay too:)

Immediately upon picking this game up, you'll feel something special. Something that makes this more than your average action-adventure game. Perhaps it's the franchise's illustrious history, spanning back to the NES console release of 1988. Perhaps it's the feeling of really being a ninja, thanks to the brilliantly responsive controls and flashy character animations. Whatever it is, there is greatness present right from the start.

The first thing the first-time player will notice is how much deeper and faster the combat system is compared to the genre's norm. You won't find any one-button combat or sluggish response here. Truly one of the most intuitive and hardest to master combat systems the genre has ever seen, it rivals that of true fighting games.

New players may be frustrated by the difficulty, as the game is harder than the average 21st century release. Hearkening back to the days of old, Ninja Gaiden will make you start back at save points that aren't right next to where you died...and it will do it frequently, thanks to the wide variety of intelligent enemies. Once you begin to grasp the mechanics and learn how to counter the enemies' tricky tactics, however, a whole new world of tactical combat will open up to you.

If I had one complaint about the title, (and believe me, it's not an easy thing to find one.) it would be the somewhat clunky camera system. The camera sometimes fails to give you the best angle on the action, but this can usually be gotten around with the manual camera controls. Also, the graphics look a little bit dated by today's standards (there's no anti-aliasing to speak of), but that's to be expected from a game of this age.

Regardless of these minor flaws, this game stands as one of the Xbox's greatest triumphs, and will be one of those titles that remains in everyone's collection for a loooong time.

i like about it is works great and good game its worth the money and worth the time to play you will get hooked on this game for about 3 weeks and then it gets better it get really challenging fighting all this cool bosses that are super hard .

This game is one of the most fun games I have on the xbox . . . the gameplay is exciting and usually avoids the boredom of some similar games . . . the fighting is intense and the graphics are excellent . . . also the game is seemingly endless involving the player in new environments (although some are returned to over the game) and interactive gameplay.

This is very fun. Good graphics and the action is great. Also the story is very easy to get into. A+ I recommend for all RPG and action gamers.

I was expecting a good game when I rented this game to play. I was wrong, it was an AWESOME game. I liked it so much I bought it to finish it. Spent many hours on this game. Just amazing.
