Nikon N65 Camera

I'm not going to get technical with this review, as I have not used the camera extensively yet. The camera came with two sets of instructions. A "quick photo guide" and a more extensive instruction booklet. Both were easy to read and understand. The camera was purchased for my 9 year old son to use. I have always loved film photography, and he seemed to take a keen interest in it also. After he read the quick guide instructions we set a program mode on the dial, and started shooting some rolls of film. We have horses so we started with them as our shooting subjects. The camera works great!...and takes some great pictures!!! It is as simple and as complex to use as YOU want it to be...Short of being a totally professional use camera I think ANYONE would be happy with the N65 camera. The program modes are easy to pick and use. It has Auto, Portrait, Landscape, Close-up (Macro), Sports Continuous, Night Scene, as well as Auto Multi Program, Shutter Priority, and Manual modes. Just about any combination of programs to get creative with your photography skill level. The N65 also has a built in, pop up speed light (flash). I would say that if my 9 year old and I could take some pretty good pictures, anyone else would be able to do a great job as well. The only complaint I would have is that the body of this camera is polycarbonate (plastic). I love the heavy feel of metal and aluminum so it was a little sad to feel this superlight weight camera in my hands when it arrived. But that being known, the light weight WAS appreciated by my young son. I'm sure when we are carrying the camera around to use it I will not be complaining about the weight then. I know that if we treat it like a camera should be treated it will serve us very well for many many years to come. The camera was purchased VERY economically. Everyone is looking for the Digital Cameras so this obviously has brought the 35mm SLR film cameras down in price. I dont think you can go wrong with this camera. The lenses that can be purchased for the camera are also very economical and extremely easy to find. I'm an "old school" kind of a guy. This camera mixes the "old" 35mm film camera technology with the newer micro chip and auto focus technology very nicely. Nikon did a great job mixing the two. If you like the 35mm SLR film cameras you will not be disappointed with this great little camera.
