In many ways this is already my favorite Nikon Nikkor lens.
This lens allows me to get closer to a subject than any other lens in my bag.
Capable of full 1:1 capture this lens is up to date with Silent Wave AF-S, extra-low dispersion(ED) glass and vibration reduction control (VR-II). This is an internal focusing lens so the front element does not move in relation to subject but rather via internal focusing. Nano Chrystal technology is applied for glare elimination.
This lens will perform well as a portrait and macro lens!
The VR-II will be best used when capturing portraits as macro work will require use of a tripod if you want to include close ups of small subjects with sufficient depth of field for sharpness.
The technology involved in this lens translates to sharp images with warm vibrant color.
When used with a digital slr such as the D200 with CCD sensor this lens becomes a 157mm focal length. I find it to be ideal for both portrait and macro subjects!
I was one of the first to purchase this lens ordering mine in March and receiving the first week of April 2006.
The most outstanding characteristic of this lens in my opinion is the 9 blade diaphragm.
The Bokeh is creamy, uniform and beautiful! Bokeh is the way the background is rendered creamy and out of focus. Juxtopposed to the sharpness of focus this lens
is in my opinion without equal.

Crisp, vibrant and beautiful macro shots. With VR you can shoot macro at lower shutter speed without a tripod. The opening shot of red berries on my website davespenceimages dot com, is shot with this lens handheld at dusk, no flash. Couldn't do that without this lens. Great for low light shots of insects, flowers, etc.. Some of the best lighting is at dusk, and your subject and the perfect light won't wait for a tripod. Also makes a great portrait lens, for people, and for pets. Buy it- pricey, but the Nikon quality will make you look good.

) This is absolutetly a pro level lens. It is a lot of fun to use even for an amateur. It is nice to get real close to little crawly things.
This lens is a little pricey and it is fairly heavy and large. You can feel the quality, as well as see it in the photos. Yes it is good for medium telephoto work but you can get that in other lenses.
If you want the ultimate in a technical review, google "Nikon AF-S 105mm". There are a number of articles by real pros, such as Ken Rockwell. There is no reason to trust the opinion of an ebay hack!

J'ai trouvé ce excellent Micro-Nikkor 105 f 2,8 à un bon prix, en parfait état. Il va me permettre des faire des photos d'insectes de grande qualité, grâce à un super piqué et un stabilisateur d'images performant.
