Great little accessory

This thing is tiny enough to palm when doing a timer shot -- even for someone with small hands. The pouch it comes in is similarly small, tough and with a tight velcro closure. The pouch is designed to mount securely on your camera strap.
This remote is infrared (like a DVD/TV remote) and unless you're in the sun it's powerful enough to bounce a signal to the camera so you don't need to be standing in front of the camera to use it. I routinely stand behind the camera (a Nikon D60 in my case) and use it for tripod shots to reduce vibration on long exposures. Out in the sun it's more important to be able to see the front of the camera to use it, but you still don't need a "straight on" angle.
If you're using it a lot, you want to set the timeout of remote operation (in your camera) high so you don't keep having to change release mode. I have mine set at 15 minutes.
It doesn't do a 1/2 press focus. It's strictly a release. However, you can still 1/2 press the on-camera release when the remote is enabled to check/set focus and exposure if you need to. When the remote is enabled though, the camera's release button only does the 1/2 press function and won't trip the shutter. In remote release mode, only the remote works.
I'm extremely happy with this thing, its range, and its compact size. Since it's on the camera strap I always have it when I need it. It's a nice design.
