used Nikon LS-1000 35mm film scanner

I bought this on EBay because of the price and because it is compatible with the Linux operating system. I do not do Windows. The purchase price was $15.50 including shipping. It was up and running in 1 day and producing beautiful scans at 2700 DPI. It uses a SCSI interface which is no problem; the seller included a SCSI cable and I had an old Adaptec PCI SCSI card. Also included in the deal was a automatic slide loader and a Nikon film strip holder which was NIB. I haven't hooked up the auto feeder yet because I don't have a cable to connect it to the scanner but I ordered one on EBay for < $10. All functions work with the Linux Sane scanner front end and the Coolscan backend. Images are edited with Gimp, the image editing software that's better than Adobe Photoshop (and it's free).
Now I can use my old 35mm film cameras and digitize the negatives using my Linux computer as a darkroom. As a sideline, 35mm film cameras and lenses are out of style,in favor of digital cameras, and are really cheap on EBay.
This is the kind of deal that's hard to find on EBay, in fact, the seller lost $2 on the deal due to the cost of shipping. I'm really glad he put the scanner on EBay and didn't throw it in the trash.
