Nikon stays at the cutting edge with this gem of a fish

Nikon's 10.5mm full-frame fisheye is a gorgeous bit of engineering. THhis is the smallest fisheye I have ever used, and it is a great performer. This lens is sharp from edge-to-edge. Nikon capture can convert images to rectilinear format (straight lines) yielding an enormously wide, yet geometrically correct image. This lens is impervious to lens flare and ghosting, advantages of a fisheye design.

My only gripe is that the lens cap feels a bit cheap, but it works well and won't fall off. All in all the nicest full-frame fisheye yet, and definitely better than Canon's offerings (i.e. Canon has nothing like it).

Super lens, especially with Capture NX

Combine this lens with Capture NX and you have one more great lens. When you open the photo in NX, the lens filter will convert the 180 "Curved" photo into an rectilinear photo in less than 5 seconds. IT IS AWESOME!

  Widest DX
Review created: 03/12/08

One of the drawbacks to the DX format is that it shrinks wide angle... turns an 18-70 into a 27-105. If you have experience with wide angle, a 27 is only good for non-distorted crowd candids and some landscape.

With the 10.5 (which converts to around a 15mm) you can get the distortion you need. It's priced right and a medium aperture focuses everything from a foot to infinity. This lens is a must if the DX 12-24 (18-36) doesn't seem like enough.

Love the lens. it does some special effects that people love. Also it does 180 degree wide pictures that you could not take otherwise. Overall great lens and I recommend to follow photographer and fans of photography.

Nikon DX 10.5mm Fisheye lens - very professional
Review created: 11/02/09

The Nikon DX fisheye lens has awesome quality, but a bit pricey compared to Canon. I naturally like the feel of Nikon cameras over Canons. I used the 10.5mm fisheye on my Nikon D90 SLR.

You can see tons of images taken with it on my media portfolio online at http://www.paulmeyer.biz

If you have any questions email me. This is a great product for the money especially if you do stage or big party photographs to get full 180' degree shots.

  A new and undiscovered point-of-view
Review created: 10/24/09

This fisheye lens designed specifically for DX format is amazing. It gives a full-framed picture rather than another fisheye lens that would just give a circle in the image. It is small making it portable and more likely to carry with you especially since this lens distorts things nicely like seeing through a fish's eye. Make sure to look up fisheye pictures and you'll see why people buy lens like this.

Excellent lens. Nice panoramic view. Pricey at $500+. No place to put filter in front to protect the big lens! Overall satisfied with it though! Will have great fun with the distorted views!
