Nikon Coolpix S10 6.0 Megapixel

The Nikon S10 is a revision of the previous Nikon S4. The S4 was missing one very important feature - optical stabalization. With a long 10x zoom, you almost always will need some type of optical stabalization. The Nikon S4 did not sell very well because other brands with the same optical zoom included this technology. The New Nikon S10 is a 6MP 10x opitcal camera but comes with Nikon's Vibration Reduction Technology. The S10 is a unique camera in that it has the 'swivel design' of the old Nikon 900 series digital cameras, enabling users to take photos from dynamic angles, such as holding the camera overhead to capture action over the crowd. It has a distinctive wave-surface design and a high-quality finish. The 2.5-inch LCD with a 170-degree viewing angle allows the user to accurately frame shots. The camera offers increased light sensitivity up to an impressive ISO 800, which will give users better pictures in low lighting. If you are looking for a semi-slim camera with a big zoom the Nikon S10 is for you.

I purchased this Nikon Coolpix camera (my second digital) after tremendous research. The view finder swivels and is large enough to see through, while still holding the camera to your eye, unlike many others. Easy to understand instructions. Top of the line compared to other brands in the same price range. Takes exceptional photos--even if you are not the best photographer in the world! Practically foolproof, and great looking to boot! I like the size and weight. It is easy to carry around. The picture quality is fantastic. Use of flash will always produce 'red eye'. that is to be expected though. battery life is average. only usb 1.1.
i compare it to past cameras owned. FujiFine pix f410 and Minolta DiMage x5.
the zoom is very powerful. more so than the Dimage. focus is slow compared to both, but when it finally does focus, it is always dead on. as stated before, the image quality from this sensor is by far the best. rich color and fine detail. does not look soft. i would buy again.

Like the convience of a point and shot but giving me options to do more than just that.I traded "down" from a more complicated camera and a heavier model to the one listed above. It is more to my liking and carrying capabilities.I do wish the camera had come with a case.

Great portable camera for the price. Fits in my pocket! Excellent 10x optical zoom lens allows for easy telephoto opportunities. Large easy to see screen, except in bright light. Outdoors on bright, sunny days its hard to see the image you are photographing on the screen. Scene settings work very well. I love the cameras len's ability to swivel. This allows you to get photos from every angle. Wonderful resolution. Camera does not allow for any kind of manual photography, which can be a good or bad thing. It is fully automatic, which makes it easy to use. I would highly recommend this camera.

This camera was reccomended to me by a guy who is semiprofessional with cameras and film developing. When I saw his I was amazed at how easy it is to use and multifunctional as well. My previous Canon had way too many features and an inch thick user guide. This camera can do my e-bay photos as well as my caving photos. The ability to vary the flash and keep the screen facing me as I shoot make this camera much easier and friendly to use. The rechargeable battery is easy to deal with and saves a lot of money in the long run. I highly reccomend this camera for anyone looking for an easy to use multi purpse digital at an affordable price.

A very good new generation of the typical Nikon swivel body coolpix. Great for macro shots of small animals. Needs a manual mode. Definitely worth the cash though!

I got the camera in Feb. and have to send it in for repairs- It quit working last m0nth, so that's 2 months. It may be because i didn't know the cameras were used and Cameta Cameras only give you 2 weeks of warranty. I am very dissatisfied with the camera, the camera company and ebay for letting the cheap equipment be sold online.

pros:
10x optical is great for catching the shot
for far away, give a great depth of field.
uses the same battery as my old coolpixs.
800 ISO can catch some good low light pics.

cons:
little bulky for pocket
shutter is a little slow for action even
with my ultra II card. but maybe its just
me not knowing my setting.

Good: 10 x optical zoom. Vibration Reduction works fine. Long battery life. Fine bright photos even in dark situations - iso 800. Multilanguage menu. Large lcd-screen.

Sucks: Lcd-screen is VERY difficult to view in sunlight. Zoom is slow. The camera is very "plasticish". And the camera is kind of big.

I love my new camera because it is compact and easy to use. I enjoy being able to take pictures or video. I get a great joy from bringing memories back to life.

10X zoom, my main purchase point works great. I made a panoramic compilation from three photo's, the enclosed software does all the work I am impressed. Today I used a 2 Gig memory card to record a movie of a concert I had almoast 2 hours of space for video and sound. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I love this swivel lens design! I wouldn't buy another type of point and shoot camera. It seems that half the photos I want to take I want them from a higher or lower vantage point. Especially shooting kids, groups, pets, and just about everything. This design allows you to easily aim the camera from any height you want and you can at the same time turn the side with the screen on the back towards your eyes and operate the camera as normal. It's GREAT! Try to do that with normal cameras and you can't see the screen. If this is important to you don't be fooled by the cameras that have a screen on the back that swings out and then the screen alone turned. This type just doesn't work nearly as well. It's hard to explain so go try both types at the camera store and see for yourself. You'll quickly understand what I'm talking about. Photo quality is very good, and it is easy to use. Plus, you can't beat the 10X zoom, image stabilization, and other features. If Nikon is listening I'd make only these suggestions to make it better - Add a round vertical ridge on the front to help grip it better, make it more than 6.0 MP, and go back to AA batteries. But, those are not bad enough to stop me from making it my carry-everywhere camera. I love it!

I write this as sadly my second one of these has once again broke - lens error. *sigh* I've had this type of camera for two years. It does fit in your jeans pocket, small, and easily to take into any venue. Easy to carry when busy with your children while out as well. Takes AWESOME photos. I have friends with the more expensive big ones and the photos and videos are just as good if not better than theirs. Plus I never leave mine at home, whereas they have to decide if it's worth it to drag their big ones along. All the smaller models do not have nearly the ability of this camera. You can easily take pictures over heads of people, behind you, to the side, etc without any difficulty. The zoom is nothing but pure amazing.

The downside - it's not meant for sports. Through two of these, I've never been able to get a really good photo of a sports shot and with kids in sports - that's a must have now in my life.

It takes great shots in completely DARK. It's as if it's daylight out. Beautiful.

Another drawback, though, is in dim light - it's not that great.

I just wish Nikon would have kept making these and fixed the sports issue and the dim light issue. And, of course, the fact that there is always a lens error and it's not easily fixed - if at all.

I miss this camera more than anything. I cried when it broke - it went with me everywhere. Now, though, I believe it's time to get one of the big SLRs due to sports and such that my children are in. But this is one great camera.

Wonderful camera. The best thing about this model is the 10x optical zoom with vibration reduction which allows candid shots of children without them getting shy. With the folding lens feature it is small enough to carry in a pocket.

I bought this for my girlfriend for xmas. she loves it. the resolution is excellent, and there are so many great features on it. Also you cant beat the price.

I was looking for a camera to take it with me when traveling and taking everyday pictures, but still with reliable quality and a few options to add a little spark to the picture. I found everything an more in this one. The features and options it has are endless. You simply have to try it. I don't regret the purchase at all, even though the import costs were extreme!! Menu is very simple and manual very easy to understand. I still don't understand why they don't make it anymore.
Definitely a must have!
