Okay, so I started with an L3, and I should say the one that sold me.
AN EXCELLENT CAMERA = EASY TO USE = LOVE the VIDEO
I bought it new at Good Guys for $260. I really liked that you could take excellent photos without use of a memory card. Which has been ideal for my shop here at ebay.
The video is sooo sooo sooo cool. So at Holidays, I have the regular snaps, but then also snippets of video which has really been fun to review and really makes it possible to relive those moments.
The L3 stood up for a good long time, but then I dropped it while it was open and the retracting lens got damaged and it wouldn't close anymore. I tried to fix it but got a real nasty shock from the internal battery...ouch.
So then I bought the L4 at Walmart for $150. It has held up for about 2 years, but the internal battery must be going because it doesn't like to turn off and on very well, but when I can get it to work it takes excellent photos.
That is the beauty of any Nikon. Excellent photo quality.
So I've just replaced my L3 with the L18. Let me say that all 3 have been excellent cameras, and all have the great functions that you want from a compact camera.
So now the L18 has some simplified features, screen is bigger, resolution is greater and still will take photos without a card. I have a 2 gig card I bought at Frys for $10, so on PC mode you can take over 7000 photos. I use PC mode for ebay, but 1m for family photos. But it goes to 7m which is basically a giant photo.
Some of the buttons have been eliminated on the L18 as compared to the earlier models, but its all pretty much the same, still a great pocket sized camera with the photo quality of NIKON.
The bigger screen is a plus, I'm telling you, you just can't go wrong with this series of camera. I bought this L18 at ebay for $99. What a great deal.
I'm one of those people who needs a fairly simple camera and this one really fits the bill.
On screen menus make it really easy to use. For a hundred bucks you can't go wrong. I take a lot of photos. Not only for ebay, but for family gatherings and travel. This camera really holds up.
A 5 star camera.
