Nikon COOLPIX 995 is a camera that is has tons of features, the nomenclature is extensive and it is easy to use. This camera is so powerful and has so many great things, even writing a summary is difficult.
This camera has full shutter/aperture features it quickly replaced my SLR film camera, without missing a beat. Also has Programmed Auto, where the camera automatically controls shutter speed and aperture. Shutter-priority Auto allows you to control the shutter speed and the camera automatically selects the correct aperture. With the Aperture-Priority Auto you can set the aperture and the shutter is automatically selected by the camera. Manual which allows full control of the camera's shutter and aperture. The Long time (BULB) exposure (up to 60s) even has a Noise Reduction setting and when On can reduce noise in the form of randomly spaced brightly colored pixles in the image.
The zoom ability is excellent and focuses very well when extremely close up to the subject, such as flowers, insects, objects. In middle zoom position, a flower icon is displayed in yellow to assist with optimum lens setting. The Infinity mode is excellent at photographing landscapes and building. The lens automatically moves to a position suitable for infinity focus and locks in position. (Flash cancel is selected automatically.)
Self timer allows you to be in the photograph, and after pressing button it gives you 10 seconds to get into position. Or if you press the button twice, it gives you 3 seconds.
Playback is a great mode for reviewing pics saved on the memory card. More details can be seen on the saved image by zooming into the desired areas and scrolling with the Multi Selector.
I wish I could review more about the camera, but I'd be here for quite a while! I love my camera and despite the cute name, it really is an excellent camera. Only reason why I didn't give it a top rating of Excellent was because of the time it takes to save the image, between photos. And the slight lag time it takes from when I press the button to when it actually "snaps" the picture. Since I do not take many action photos (except for when photographing family activities), this is not a problem for me.
Good luck with your digital camera research. I hope I my review was helpful.
