A reason to stay with film

For years I have used only standard Nikon lenses - no zoom - and Nikon film cameras. This is because digital has not produced similar resolution to a fine-grained film like Fuji Velvia 100 (used to be 50)until the new models just starting to appear now. Just love the 105 mm macro, but times move on.
The 17-35mm f/2.8D is remarkable. After scanning film at high resolution, I see very little to no loss of acuity and no aberration attributed to it being a zoom. The silent wave motor is fast and precise.
No way I'd hand in my film camera and stick this lens on a digital body. It is not designed for it.
There are no negative comments that I can make. Geoff.
