What can one say about PERFECTION?
This lens is about as logical a choice as anyone can make for an all around lens for shooting the Nikon Digitals. From my use in taking highly detailed technical photos during my investigations, to having fun recording races at the NHRA Winter Nationals at the Pomona raceway, to shooting the church Christmas Program WITHOUT FLASH, this lens does it all.
Don't let the 3.5-5.6 guide numbers scare you away from this one. My D-300 makes ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC photos with this lens in low light when the ISO is elevated. This lens is ALL YOU NEED for most shooting. I have larger lenses for those really far away subjects, but this is the lens that LIVES on my camera.
