Good inexpensive lens

The lens was listed as a "factory demo". It came in a box from Nikon's Refurbishment Program. This is not unexpected, that is exactly what Nikon would do with returned demo equipment. It included a 90 day warranty card from Nikon. Cameta claims to provide a 1 year store warranty. Obviously I haven't had a chance to test that out, and don't expect to.
Otherwise it appeared to be in like-new condition. This particular lens has a plastic lens mount, instead of metal. I don't have a problem with that. It substantially reduces the weight of the lens. And, since I bought this lens for travel, that's actually a plus. I have a Nikon 80-200 F5.6 lens with plastic mount that I have had for over 10 years, and have never had a problem with it. Of course, I treat my camera equipment gently.
This lens is a DX lens model. This means it can only be used on Nikon cameras with the DX size image sensor. If you have a D700, D3, D3X or D3s you cannot use this lens. These cameras all have Nikon's FX size sensor.
The front element of the lens turns during focusing. That's to be expected in a relatively inexpensive lens.
Pros: Light weight. VR. Internal focusing motor. Equal to 28-80mm for 35mm camera, most common range.
Cons: Didn't come with lens shade.
