Nike Slingshot OSS Single Iron Golf Club

There was a famous quote from a golfer that went something like... "If you are ever caught in a lightning storm, just hold your 2 iron in the air because even God can't hit that." This is Nike's rebuttal - I love this club. Tight fairways, uneven lie, whatever - I have never hit a long iron like this one.

I love the two Nike Slingshot OSS iron's I recently bought. I especially appreciate the seller because he called to tell me that it looked like I bought a left handed club by mistake because the other two irons were right-handed. He was right.

I purchased the Nike Slingshot 6 iron because I wanted to sample one iron before purchasing a set. This iron proved to be much like the rest of Nike irons I have tried in the past, below average. Nike needs a lot of work on their irons. However they seemed to have found something with their hybrids and designed somewhat effective woods. I personally like the Titleist much better in woods and Ben Hogans in hybrids but Nike does ok with these two. The irons on the other hand seem to perform below average. This 6 iron was designed to help the golfer lift the ball. However if you are a golfer that leaves divots then these irons are not for you. The irons allow the golfer to dig under the ball to lift it. The head is a little heavier than other irons. So if you are the type of golfer that leaves any divots with you irons like most golfers are, then this iron will cause you to leave trenches. If you are the type of golfer that hits all ball then maybe these irons will work. It does make a good chipper. My suggestion, try the Macgregor M565. These irons are about 2 yrs old but will allow you to lift the ball with ease and without any trenches. You can still find them brand new on Ebay and very reasonable.

It was time to replace the 15 year old two iron club. I wanted a newer one. Golf stores in my area said, "nobody makes 2 irons anymore. Get a hybrid!"
The search began and I found a brand new, never hit, still in the plastic Nike two iron for twenty dollars, including shipping. The seller, Golfetail, is now on my favorites. The club came fast, came wrapped, came new. Best deal ever for me.
This Nike club sends the ball in flight that equals a Nasa blastoff! Can almost leave one of those white smoke tails, if you get my drift.
Well, I guess you can tell I am very happy with this purchase.

I love this club. It is a little heavier than my old SW, which is what I was looking for. I like the whole Slingshot OSS line. GREAT CLUB!!!!

I bought it because I wanted a long Iron that I could hit consistantly and the oversized slingshot provides that. I hit this club clean and far. This club hits better than my #2 hybrid. The price was also very good. There is nothing to dislike about this club or the purchase. BDOGLEY

The Nike Slingshot 7 iron is a great golf club. It has great feel and is well balanced. I get ten yards more with club than I did with my old 7 iron. Just an all round pleasure to use.

I bought this Nike Slingsshot 7 iron because my husband lost his on the golf course and it was not turned in! The was a great bargain on a new club and made it very easy to replace the lost club. It's a great product.

I had lost the one club from my set (set which I had previously purchased on eBay too). The price was great and the condition of the club immaculate. The transaction went smooth and my package was here before I knew it. I pleased with this purchase.

Loved the way you can hit this club with a nice smooth swing and it simply flies. Never thoght i could hit a 2-iron until i tried the Nike slingshot 6-iron. Basically, i needed a club i could hit consistently in the fairway off the tee when it is tight. Club is great for those who struggle with a "normal" iron.

Buying these golf clubs was easy and I got what I wanted for a fair price. I was able to find the right set from my home and not travel any distance. They were delivered promptly to my door.

When I first ordered my Nike Slingshot OSS irons, 4-AW, I was apprehensive. I am a med-high handicapper who generates a lot of clubhead speed. After reading reviews about the Nike Slingshot OSS irons, it was a mixed bag. Some said they gained distance, some said they lost distance. I've never really been worried about distance , but ball trajectory interested me. When I started playing 5 years ago, I had no idea. But having played regularly since, I notice that despite my desire to hit a higher ball, I'm a low ball hitter. These irons have erased that. My ball flight is much higher and straighter than I had ever seen with my old irons (callaway steelhead plus knockoffs). It remains to be seen whether I have gained or lost distance, but the fact that I can now actually hit my 4 5 and 6 irons accurately and high enough to land softly is reassuring enough for me.
Having now played three rounds with these clubs (one on a championship course that used to host a senior PGA event) I can honestly say that the potential for these clubs is sky high. Although I have issues with the grips (I’ll be regripping soon), the clubs themselves are astounding. Often on courses with narrow doglegs, holes that almost force the driver out of your hands, I was at a distinct disadvantage. I continually hit my four iron off the tee to great effect, to the tune of about 210-220 yards and deadly accurate. My best friend and golfing buddy who was riding with me obviously had expected me to tank it on this course because of my shaky iron play in the past. The shorter irons are just as accurate, and the weighting of the club plus the hot face equals high, soft landing shots. The greens that I hit (not as many as I would have liked, but that’s golf) the ball was never more than 5 feet from the spot it landed, proof positive that the ball was coming almost straight down when it landed. I'm not sold on these clubs for the short game, even though I did chip one in from about 15 yards and nearly holed another one for par. For all the chips I had over the weekend, had I not lost my trusty sand wedge I would have done much better. The hot face sometimes leads to overhitting the short “in between” shots and chips around the green. Flop shots are also risky unless you have a very fluffy lie, as the thick clubhead is hard to slide under the ball. These irons do not get snagged in the rough like other clubs.
