The idea of a square head, engineering and high MOI are good. But does it perform. Got to the first Tee and by the time it was my turn to tee off, the club (Regular, Diamana Graphite Shaft) generated so much attention that it was at the back of the line being fondled and ooed and ahhhed. Had to wrestle the club away from an 85 year old man. Finally teed up and all was hush knowing I had better hit this driver well or else listen to 20 guys yell and heckle. Fortunately, the club struck the ball well and landed in the middle of the fairway, but not as long as my Callaway 460x. Unfortunately, the guys at the end of the line were complaining about the noise. Then I heard a voice coming over the clubhouse speaker....."Bill, Keep The Noise Down". The noise was so distracting thru 12 holes that I had to use cigarette buts in my ear to concentrate. I felt like I was playing softball all day long.
Bottom line is...... Try out several demos before you buy....you still have to hit the ball squarely on the clubface and hearing the sound of a well struck ball is great feedback. The Sumo2 is forgiving on heel and toe hits, but lacks distance. After a 18 holes and a couple of aspirins for my headache, I sold the club and stayed with my trusty Callaway 460 x. Reviewer: 64 years old, 10 handicap, bad back with a pacemaker defibrillator. Previous clubs owned and own. Taylor made Burner (2007 model), Taylor Made 9.5 Stiff SuperQuad (Black), Nike SQ regular, Cleveland Hibore and much more.
