Nike NDS Irons - Great set of irons for the price!

Accuracy: Above Average - 4/5

These NDS irons are very consistent, and it is rather simple to gauge your distances. They are very nice and line up on the ball, making them easy to hit and straightforward at that. Nike lists these as game improvement irons, but you are still able to work these clubs and do some spin techniques.

Feel: Above Average – 4/5

Playing with the graphite shaft set, it was easy to get a soft feel on the ball. Though these clubs were light on the feel, you can tell they are well-balanced when you swing.

Distance: Average - 3/5

The distance of these irons were on target with many others on the market.

Trajectory: Above Average – 3.5/5

Producing slightly higher than average ball height, it is easy to get this set of clubs to hit the ball in the air, except with the 3 and 4 irons. The 8 and 9 irons were nice and can almost see the path that the ball was traveling when hit.

Forgiveness: Above Average - 4/5

These clubs give above average forgiveness on the 5-PW irons. You can tell that these irons are the game improvement irons. As stated in the trajectory, they get up in the air and quick.

Overall: Slightly above Average - 18.5/25

The NDS irons have an interesting simple, yet aggressive, look to them. From the back, you can tell these have a modern look to them and that they are game improvement with the visible single notch progressive weight system and wide soles throughout the set. The fronts though, go for the more traditional look and feel or blade irons. The NDS irons from Nike Golf are nice for their forgiveness and accuracy. As for game improvement irons, the Nike Slingshots are a better club, but for the price, especially here on ebay, you can’t beat the NDS irons. Plus, the looks of these irons are sharp, and will not fade with time. These irons swing really very well and are great for all levels of golfers, but especially mid to high-handicappers. Once again, you can’t beat the price here online, and it is only a small price to pay for a better golf game on the course.

Bought a set for myself last Christmas...NDS irons and drivers. I am a mid to hight handicapper. Greatly improved my game. Awesome feel and they got the ball airbourne much better than any of my other clubs. I was hitting longer, straighter, and more accurate. I hightly recommend these clubs.

Nike NDS irons set with uniflex shafts golf clubs
Review created: 09/22/07
8 of 9 people found this review helpful.

Price - 9/10 (I tried $100 generic irons, BigBertha, Cleveland, TaylorMade,
Titleist, and for novice golfers these will give you the most
improvement for the price and fit you fine until you become a sub
12 handicap. Anything less expensive will be holding you back, and
anything more will be be too good for what you are capable of
actually doing)

Quality - 9/10 (I like these better than $800 Callaway Big Bertha irons because
these are easier for me to hit off fairways since the soles are
flatter. The are well engineered clubs and are solidly made)

Forgiveness - 10/10 (I hit off the toe sometimes and the ball goes farther and
straighter with these than any other clubs I've tried)

Distance - 10/10 (These are the longest clubs I've used except for $1400
2007TaylorMadeXD irons which go about 1% farther for me, your
swing might be different)

Workablilty - 8/10 (blades are much harder to hit consistently but would have
more workability)

Durability - 8/10 (softer steel than most clubs, scratches slightly more but
feels better. Metal inserts in the cavity back dings very
easily but is only cosmetic and doesn't affect performance at
all)

Shaft - 8/10 UniFlex shafts seem to work fine for my 81mph swing, my friend's
95mph swing, and my other friend's 107mph swing. We can all easily
control the club's trajectory and shape the ball well. Custom fit
shafts would work slightly better but are not worth the price at my
level)

Appearance - 8/10 (a lot of chrome but not too flashy, mostly simple and good
looking)

These are my 3rd set of irons I've owned and these are the best for golfers who are in the +10 handicap range because of their forgiveness for off-center hits, great distance, heel-toe weighting making the ball fly straight even when struck off-center, great quality for such low cost ($300) compared to most other companies like Callaway, Cleveland, TaylorMade, etc which cost $600-$1500. I am a right handed golfer and have about a 17 handicap but know how to control the ball's flight if I need to get around a tree or over/under obstacles. The only reason my handicap is so high is because I come over the top or hit fat a lot due to my imperfect swing. When I connect with the ball it goes where I want it to go 98% of the time. My natural shot was a slight fade for the first 8 months but for the past 3 months I hit perfectly straight. I never practice big draw shots but I know how to slice pretty well. 3 different times I have had to use extreme draw to hook the ball left around a hill or tree more than 30 degrees and did it perfectly twice with a 2006ProV1, the third time with a 2007ProV1x I had to hook about 45 degrees to stay in the fairway and only managed to get about 35 degrees left before hitting the water. My point is that these irons will still let you work the ball a good amount if you need to, but my friends with 2-6 handicaps say their forged cavity-back blade irons have way more workability. I'm not sure I would every want or need to try a "TigerWoods hook shot" that goes about 90 degrees so I'll stick with these until I'm consistent enough to use blades well.

I have had these clubs for 2 years now and i went from around a 25 handicap when i just started and now im around a 6-8 so i uprgraded to the 695 mb blades from titleist just recently but without those irons with the consistency of feel and forgiveness it would have taken much longer. they made me a much better ball striker.

  Best round of my life.
Review created: 11/06/06

I bought these clubs because nike claimed the are easier for a high handicapper to hit. They were right. I played for 3 years with my old Clubs. A no name set I bought at a golf store. The best 9 I ever played was 49. On my third round with the Nike NDS Irons I shot a 45. The 3 and 4 Irons are the only 3 and 4 I have ever been able to hit in the air. I no longer have to lay-up with a 5 iron or hit a 3/4 3wood.

Great clubs for the mid to high handicap

These clubs are great...I found them very easy to hit and make consistent contact. They set up well, are fairly light and look very nice too. I especially like their narrow leading edge for delicate shots around the green...the PW, 9i and 8i are easy to handle for chips and "bump and runs".

I love the irons. They are very player friendly and you still get great feed back from the club. I love the grafite shafts and the blade and the bounce design. I am really impressed and will use these clubs of a while.

Nike NDS Irons-New clubs, or just me
Review created: 03/09/07

My recent purchase of the Nike NDS irons was probably one of the best investments I've ever made to improve my golf game. I researched my clubs of choice and then took a chance purchasing them on ebay. I was concerned with the condition of the clubs because I couldn't see them before purchasing them. However, the prompt service of the seller, the quick delivery, and the fact that the seller kept their word with the condition of the clubs, makes me a satified customer. I've played with the clubs several times since my purchase, and I have to say that the clubs are spectacular. I keep most of my shots high in the air, landing them softly. It is true that you can buy yourself a better game, and these clubs were perfect for me.

  Nike Distance System really works
Review created: 11/23/09
by:

I tried these irons on the range after renting the Nike Victory Reds and borrowing Callaway X-18's while on vacation. They were both far superior in striking the ball to the Pure Spin irons that I was using. The price of the Nike NDS is what convinced me to buy this set. I normally play a course nicknamed "The Hill". I parred the first hole after topping my drive to the edge of the fairway. My second shot was a 3-iron that went 190 yards landing softly enough to not roll off the fairway 70 yards from the green. A pitching wedge shot left me about 3 yards short of cup and first putt lipped out for a bogey. On 2, I hit a good drive leaving me 140 yards away with a steep him to climb. Normally i would hit a 7 iron, essentially laying up after a long roll up hill, for a short lob towards the pin. Based on the claims that these irons get the ball in the air, I chose a 6 and hit it perfectly, dropping on the green. A very lucky putt from 30 feet gave me a birdie, my first ever on this hole, which is the second hardest on the course. The rest of the round convinced me that the Nike NDS irons are exactly as advertised for a better price than the others in it's class. I finished the round with an 89, where my previous best had been a 95. The difference was my approaches to the green. In the past, I simply didn't have a club that would hold a green from more than 120 yards. All of these got the ball in the air and dropped it where I wanted it to land. Even the shots that I missed were just barely off the fairway. I love these irons.

Grips on the clubs were very slick. Didn't like the way they hit, seemed very unstable. Shafts were great. Club head sit up ok. Will sell these and try out something else.

I was a little disappointed that the clubs stated "new" but shop worn. I assumed shop worn was the plastic missing or a few scratches but when I received the clubs they all had been scraped on the bottom as if they had been hit. Every club was scrape mark & this was relly odd that they stated new, but shop worn. It should os said shop worn, hit, or scratched on bottom. I could of purchased them from Dick's sporting goods for about $50 dollars more & would have recieved a new set with no markings.
