This is one of the best feeling blades I have ever hit. This club is made for low handicaps but is not a bad play for a 14 handicap or lower. Any forged set on the market is going to have the "scary small" head size. Once you hit a forged club you will never want to go back to a cast or game improvement club. A forged club will feel and respond different. It is hard to explain feel but the response of your golf ball is not. I have played a few sets over the years. The most recent sets have been the Nike SS4d irons and blue dot Ping i3. I use Titleist Pro V or Nike Platinum balls. On a typical 155 yard shot with an easy 8 iron, the Ping i3 and Nike SS4d would land and release about 10 to 15 feet. The Nike blade would land, stop, or drop within 3 feet of impact. That is why many people tell you that using forged clubs is like "throwing darts at the pin."
If you are looking at making the switch to a players club I would recommend you get a forged cavity back blade. The best forged cavity back blades are made by Mizuno. After playing with them for awhile make the switch to your favorite set of blades. If you are dead set on jumping in with both feet the Nike Forged Blades are not a bad choice. They seem to be more forgiving and easier to hit than most muscle back blades. The loft is a little weak but that is an easy adjustment made by most professional golf pro shops. You need to remember that like most blades the key is hitting the sweet spot effectively and consistently. Blades are a great learning tool because they give you immediate feedback on all off center hits.
I would have to say that Nike continues to impress me. They have gotten better with age and have caught up quickly with the other golf lines.
