VERY NICE EXCELLENT CD GREAT STORIES FUNNY PUNS VERY ALL AROUND FANTASTICALLY PHENOMENAL ET CETERA YES

It took me back to a concert Waits did at the University of Toronto in the early 80's where Waits finished a song quickly and you could hear 2,000 people tapping their feet! The crownd erupted with applause for one of the most unique artists of the last 50 years.
Not only is this recording great musically, it will probably make you laugh.

Tom Waits sounds like an old Beatnik poet with bronchial pneumonia and I love it! World weary and wise beyond his years (at least, when this album was recorded) this is certainly my favorite Waits album and I’m happy to replace my old LP with this fine CD.

If you've always wanted to check out Tom Waits but don't know where to start, Nighthawks at the Diner is an excellent starting point. Every track on this classic disc is fantastic. Kick-ass musicianship--Wait's bluesy piano and his band, his trademark grizzly growl and incredible lyrics are are all on display here. Hilarious, poignant, insightful, sad, irreverent, the narrative and emotional power of Waits' songwriting is undeniable and he is a live performer nonpareil. You'll laugh, you'll cry--Nighthawks at the Diner is a live document of early, LA, classic Waits. This own's simply a must-have.

an amazing voice. I have this on vinyl but missing one disc, Its a double album. I recommend this cd, and his live concerts. thanks.
