Technically not DVD-Audio, but excellent anyway
Let's get one thing straight- this set does not have any DVD-Audio discs. There are 4 CDs and three MVI (http://www.mvimusic.com/) DVDs. The 5.1 recordings are 48/24, so they are very comparable to the best DVD-Audio discs. When I saw the term MVI, I first thought "uh oh, I hope my DVD player is compatible". I was absolutely amazed at the sound quality of all three DVDs.
If you like Steely Dan, you should enjoy Nightfly and Kamiriakad immensely. I'm somewhat unimpressed with the songwriting on Morph The Cat, but the musicianship and recording quality is consistent to Steely Dan standards.
The Bonus CD is suprisingly good. Blue Lou is an absolutely gorgeous blues sax piece. Unfortunately, there are no musician credits on the bonus disc.
If you have a decent 5.1 DVD player (like my Oppo 981HD)and enjoy Steely Dan style jazz, this set is definitely worth the 50.00 price tag on the 5.1 Marketing site.
