This is a disturbing movie, all the more so because it shows actual films of the horrors inflicted by the Nazi war machine. This is not for the faint of heart. It is not for children. The narrative is in French. The English subtitles tell a chilling tale. Before he died, my father, a young American Army combat engineer in WWII, told me he had seen these camps and the victims with his own eyes. Yet even my father's first hand experience could never have prepared him for the haunting extent of terrors exposed in Night and Fog.

The movie is in very good condition. It is a great movie for learning. I bought for one of my classes at college. Quite a mentally jogging movie and gruesome to behold.

) I saw the film in high school nearly 30 years ago and was emotionally devastated by it; now, as a college teacher, I show this film as a companion to short novels regarding the Jewish Holocaust. My students in 2009 are just as devastated as I was 30 years ago. It does just as an effective job in teaching of the horrors of humanity's hatred towards others as Schindler's List, and it does so in 30 minutes. Whereas I feel Spielberg is borderline manipulative of the audience--he admitted as much when he made Jaws--the documentary Night and Fog needs not manipulate anyone because the subject matter sells itself. This is a must for everyone, especially those that doubt and those that refuse to believe in the inherent evil of humankind, like those that watch and believe Fox News er Noise.
