I love this Xanth novel! Mare Imbri (a night mare - who delivers bad dreams to naughty characters) is actually based on one of Peirs Anthony's own horses, though his horse doesn't deliver bad dreams. If you love Xanth, magic, horses, or Piers Anthony, this book is for you!
