Night of the Living Dead is amazing. It might feature some cheesy performances and very little special effects (it was the 60's) but George A. Romero took an idea and turned it into an instant classic.
NotLD is Zombie horror at it's finest. Romero had a small budget and little special effects and he still managed to make one of the scariest movies ever made. I still enjoy watching this movie every now and then just to remind myself what started it all and how far we've come.

Rent or Buy?: If you're a horror fan this is a must buy. If you're just looking to see what all the fuss is about rent this one today.

This is a true classic in horror.
As a kid this low budget black and white move scared the crap out of me. Today it’s tame compared to today’s bloody orgies of death.
This film helped to create the modern zombie lour used in nearly all future zombie films and books
The difference is the mood and the story telling. The starkness of the black and white film creates a feeling that color can’t.
This movie is the Godfather of all Zombies Movies. That is why nearly all zombie films made after have drawn from it.
Scary does not need to be knee deep in bright red fake blood. Black and white is scarier

) I have heard alot about this movie yet I have not actually seen it for myself. I plan to do so after Christmas because my daughter loves to have friends over for "fright night" where they watch movies, each popcorn and have slumber party etc. I purchased her this movie as well as 4 others to add to her collection for christmas. I like films that have good story lines, not just killing after killing without a story. This film appeared to have a interesting storyline therefore I thought I would give it a try.

A good ol' fashioned scare!I'm 32 and saw this movie for the first time recently at a Halloween film festival. My boyfriend and I were both very surprised at how much this movie scared us, despite being in black and white and so old. Yes, it's clearly low budget, but still keeps you interested throughout. It has a Twilight Zone / Psycho feel to it. I recommend this movie to those looking for a simple scare without alot of bells and whistles.

Tries to do gore on the cheap and fails. Even though it is B&W all the blood still looks like chocolate. Tries and FAILS to use a black protagonist so that someone, somewhere might try to infer some social commentary with the film.
