Night of the Comet (DVD, 2007)

"Night of the Comet" is a product of the 80s, and watching the DVD really brings back the period. It was my high school years, and for me, this movie reflects the mentallity and politics during that time.

No "oscar" for the cast or directing, and you could tell the script was most likely Thom Eberhardt's first; however, you can see that there was great potential for all. The storyline has been used numerous times, before and since, but this one just seems to work. It's fun and clever, and keeps your interest - even when you're pretty sure what's going to happen.

Don't bother watching it if you only prefer the "academy" winners, but if you were an adolescent during the 80s - it's a great flashback.

Very clean movie. No profanity or sex scenes. Truly is a classic of how teenagers were back in the day and how they would react when left on their own after the adults are gone. Bought this one years ago and lost in fire

this is a nice pop corn horror movie that was made in the 80s, its about two valley girls who try to survive after a freak comet hits earth and kills most of the humans, and the ones that dont die right away turn to flesh eating zombies that can speak and do normal things except eat other people

I just purchased a copy of Night of the Comet on DVD. This a great Cult Classic. When it arrived I was very pleased to find it was in Wide Screen Forma and had good quaility sound. If you can find an origional copy on DVD as I have, I strongly recomend it for you collection. It is a must for anyone who collects Sience Fiction.

This show is a classic, they don't make them like this anymore. Robert Beltram from Star Trek Voyager is great and I also recognize the blonde cheerleader in other roles like from Seinfeld. The cast, writing and special effects are one of the best you'll find. Its the type of movie you can watch a thousand times and STILL want to see it again! (trust me, I have) I wish there was a second part to it...
The down side is some of the things they do during and after the comet are stupid..I know they are supposed to be young, but... LOL

but all in all, your gonna love it!

If you like 80's cheezzzzzeee, then you'll this movie... I bought it because I love 80's cheesey b movies especially zombie and vampire movies.

This movie was a favorite of my pre-teen daughter.I believe she liked it because it was one of the very few movies at that time to show teenage girls as strong,fearless and capable of using lethal weapons to protect themselves from zombies. Most movies at that time showed girls and women as helpless screamers. Night of the Comet gave my daughter female heroes she could
identify with and dream about emulating should some horrific disaster happen.

I loved the movie because it was witty and clever,and had a happy ending.

Very fun feel good movie. Good background music during the scenes. Anyone who lived in the 80's will connect with this movie.

I never thought I would say that anything from 1984 could be quaint, but Night of the Comet has many period qualities to it. My favorite part of the movie is fairly close to the beginning where a neighborhood theatre, the El Rey, is showing a "Midnight Comet Special". This is a classic theatre and there are great shots of the marquee, the concession area, and the projection booth. There's a classic daughter-stepmother girlfight, a visit to an improbable but still thoughtfully designed automated radio station, and plenty of shoot-out action in a shopping mall. Even the indoor mall is getting dated as most of them have already been demolished.

There's action galore with motorcycle riding Regina and her sister Samantha taking on the comet affected zombies, as they're military brats with self-defense and weapons training. The dialogue is snappy and tart, with plenty of memorable lines, and is about the only reason for the PG-13 rating. With most of the population wiped out by the comet and a team of mad scientists after the few legitimate survivors, a country boy truck driver adds just enough balance for the "good guys" to triumph and begin a new civilization.

This is an excellent transfer and in widescreen so you don't miss anything. You can't take this one too seriously, but you can certainly enjoy it over and over.

i bought this movie Night of the comet. I have been looking for this movie for a long time. If you like moivies with zombies this is a good movie.

I love this movie, it's very entertaining. We watched it years ago before it was available on DVD. My daughter bought it and let us borrow it but them we decided we wanted our own copy. It's a really fun flick.

This is a great old school movie, simiar to I Am Legend. I always loved ths flick and just had to have the DVD. I would recomend this to anyone. A+++

This is a good movie. I am glad it is out on DVD. It's pretty different! Not, for children.. It is about the fear people had about Halley's comet. The movie is pretty cheesy, (as my son would say). But, it is fun to watch.

1984's Night of the Comet was basically made to stir up a deadly possibility for the next arrival of Hayley's Comet back in 1986, much the way of HG Wells' War of the Worlds. Unfortunately, this low budget fright flick's comet based terror mostly happens at the very beginning. The rest of the film deals with a secret think tank of scientists trying to save their own lives at the expense of comet survivors.

This is basically the tale of 2 sisters, Regina/Reg (Catherine Mary Stewart) & Samantha/Sam (Kelli Maroney) who appear at 1st to be the sole survivors of the comet's passing. It was a big world wide party to welcome the comet's arrival until it turned everyone to dust! Unfortunately, That is far from the case! Besides the devious scientists, there are other survivors that were only partially exposed. They turn into hideous flesh eating zombies! The girls fight for their lives from both Zombies & scientists!

Despite the zombies, this is not a gore fest by any stretch & there are very few "jump out of your seat" thrills. This plays out as more of an action thriller than a horror chiller. This does not mean that it doesn't have it's moments & we are treated to many plot twists & turns. The music is a little cheesy, but the makeup effects are quite good!

Stewart & veteran character actor Geoffrey Lewis (Every Which Way But Loose, Any Which Way You Can) are the really only headliners here, but horror buffs will easily recognize B horror star Mary Waronov (best known for Eating Raoul) & her Raoul co-star Robert Beltran (best known as ST Voyager's Commander Chakoty). The unknown cast turns in solid performances though. Maroney, despite being a 16 year old cheerleader, is the film's "sexpot" as she wears her cheerleader uniform for most of the film & is garbed sexily &/or scantily the rest of the time showing off a generous amount of her legs!

In a year for Horror that saw the 1st arrival of Freddy Kruger, the Gremlins & the Ghostbusters, Night of the Comet is definitely a runner up, but it is a solid B grade horror movie in the tradition of many B horror flicks that filled theaters in the late 70s & early 80s. These are much better than the trash Z grade horror flicks that choke the shelves of video stores & air on The Sci-Fi Channel now! Comet is a nice edition to anybody's horror library & despite some language & a little violence, is actually tame enough for younger viewers to enjoy!

I don't know exactly why this film is such a favorite with the family, but it has held up over the years. There are some truly "special" moments, for example, the confrontation in the department store in the mall and that Russian roulette scene. We were never able to get a copy on VHS that was clean, so it was great finally obtaining a good DVD copy. Catherine Mary Stewart is a treat.

I love to watch the old Sci Fi movies, especially the classic ones. You don't get more classic than Night Of The Comet. The DVD came in perfect condition and was fun to watch again.

I bought this movie because it was so funny to watch. It mades no sense in so many ways but it's funny, lighthearted, campy, and safe for anyone who likes to watch horror movies.

I hand pick a few scary movies to keep for a rainy day. This is one of them. A comet kills everyone but a few people on earth. There are two kinds, normal people and the infected people. The infected people want to eat want to eat the normal people. It has a good story and its fun and scary.
