I do not regularly read fantasy novels, but I had heard good things about Knaak's stories. The novel reads like a history book at first, lots of background of the subject's origins and lore. Gets a little too involved with names for me to keep up with the timeline very well. But once the story begins, it sweeps you in rather quickly.
Mr Knaak has done a wonderful job convincing the reader of the reality of the story. There are so many fine details throughout that it seems totally plausible that a race of huge men with heads of cattle really staged a coupe against their own government.
I recommend this to anyone into the fantasy genre, it will not dissapoint!
