3dx Hybrid Performs Great. Best Value in Hybrid!
Review created: 06/07/06

About me: I'm a mid- to high- handicap golfer and play 1-2 rounds a month.

I currently carry 2 hyrbids in my bag (2-iron and 3-iron Nickent Genex 3dx Ironwoods). I have owned and played both the Nike CPR ironwood type hybrid and the TaylorMade Rescue Mid.

Hybrid clubs have definitely helped my game. As advertised hybrids are generally easier to hit than long irons, get the ball in the air quickly, and fly higher and farther than the irons these clubs are intended to replace. They are versatile and can be hit from the tee, the fairway, the rough, out of fairway bunkers, and even used on chip shots from the fringe.

Performance: As far as hybrids go, the Nickent Genex 3dx is hard to beat. Its a super easy to hit club with a very low and back center of gravity. Its forgiving and launches the ball high and long. I think its likely as good as any hybrid on the market today (particularly for the average player). Certainly better than the Nike CPR that I have played and as good as the TaylorMade Rescue Mid I played just before the Nickents. In fact, I selected the Nickent based on how similar it was in design to the TaylorMade Rescue Mid.

Price: I think what really sets the Nickent apart is its price. I paid $80 new retail for my steel shafted 3iiron Nickent and $100 new retail for the Aldila NV Hyrbid shafted 2-iron. In comparison, the Rescue Mids were about $180 at the time.

Press: Lately, I’ve seen a lot of print ads in golf publications from Nickent touting it as the most played hybrid on tour (combined PGA, Nationwide, and Senior tours). The ads say that Nickent doesn’t pay any player to carry their clubs and yet more pros carry their hybrids than any other manufacturer. I have no idea if this is true and it doesn’t have any bearing on whether the club will help my game, but based on the shots I’ve hit with this club, I can only imagine what it could do in the hands of pros.

Bottomline: The Nickent Genex 3dx hybrids delivers solid performance but at an unbelievable price point. Probably as good as any hybrid on the market, it’s a solid choice. Factor in the price, and this club becomes maybe the best value in a hybrid on the market today.

One of the best hybrid clubs currently made

I've had one of these hybrids because I can't consistently hit a fairway wood. I rarely have any troubles hitting with this. Many others have told me that they like this brand of hybrid once they've used it, too.

I like them so well that I just ordered 2 more to replace all of my fairway woods with hybrids.

Nickent 3DX Hybrid - almost like cheating
Review created: 08/04/06

After hitting much more expensive hybrid clubs at the store and being underwhelmed, I decided to take a $100 flyer on a Nickent based upon word of mouth. There is a reason this is the most popular hybrid on tour - it works.
After buying the 4/23* and loving it (long, high, fairway-wood flight with a normal iron-swing!) I went back for the 3/20* and now have the confidence to go after even well-bunkered greens from 180-210yds out. They have added confidence and removed strokes since I put them in the bag - short par 5s are now reachable and long par 3s no longer fill me with dread. I hit them off the tee, fairway or short rough with equal enthusiasm and the ball still flies 90% of normal distance if you catch one with the heel or toe. My only (very small) complaint is that it is difficult to hit these things crooked when you need to shape the ball, but once you realize they only go long and straight, they will become your best friends.
Now that the DC-version is out, you can find the graphite-shafted regular DX for $80-100 and steel from $65-80 -- an unbelievable bargain. Nickent spends its $ on development, not expensive endorsement contracts. We benefit.
Throw out the 2, 3 and 4 irons and even the 5-wood - replace them with Nickents and add a wedge or two. And then watch your scores drop a couple strokes, or more. After 6 rounds, my 15 hcp is now in the 13s and I cannot wait to get back to the course to shave off a few more tenths.

  Love this club...

Bought a 3DX 3/20 almost by accident, placed a bid that I didn't really think would win, it did. The club was in better shape than the description, it looks brand new.

My handicap fluctuates a few 10ths on eithter side of 1. I had hit a few of the early hybrids a couple times in the past and was not very impressed, viewed them as a gimick and tended to look down on anyone who couldn't/wouldn't hit the long irons. What a mistake, these Nickent clubs ROCK. Spent some time on the range and after a few swings got this club dialed. Some reviews have stated that these clubs are hard to work the ball with, I disagree, I actually have found the opposite to be true. High/low, left/right, just set up and swing it, but yes, it's strength is a high, straight shot.

First time on the course I was playing a short, tight, wooded course and hit it off the tee on several short par fours. Used my laser rangefinder to check ACTUAL yardages off the tee and I was consistantly between 230-240 yards, about 20 yards longer than the Ping i3 three iron it's replacing.

One surprise was that this club came with an R flex graphite shaft which I thought would be too weak for me, (my club head speed with a driver averages 118) wrong again. This shaft feels much stronger to me than an R flex so don't assume you need and S or X.

Wish I would have discovered this club sooner, I plan on adding one more to my bag.

Nickent Hybrids, # 1 Hybrid on Tour!!

I already have a 3DX 3i/20 degree Nickent hybrid in my bag and it is the easiest club to hit. High boring flight with minimal roll. Easy to hit out of the rough, but really shines from the fairway. Played a tournament this weekend and on the short par 4 (326 yards) one of the guys hit 4-iron and still had 160 yds left, one hit 3-wood way right into the trees and I took a smooth swing and was 103 yard out in the middle of the fairway. I am so impressed with the Nickent Hybrids, I just won an auction for a 23 degree Nickent 3DX that should be here next week, just in time for my next tournament! Get yourself a Nickent Hybrid! Heck, get yourself two of them and you can thank me later!

  Best Hybrid out there
Review created: 10/06/06
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This is by far the best hybrid out there. I wanted to see what the buzz about Hybrids was all about, so thought I would get myself one from eBay. I knew it had to be a Nickent because I had already been to the pro shop to try various hybrids out there including Ping and Callaway.

I am a big Ping fan, and all my clubs are Pings except for this. I kept on comparinng to the G5 and this club but hitting both. I found that this is far easier to hit, and its probably because of the extreme weighting technology in the heel.

You will also be pleased by the price that this sells at compared to the other top brands. I got a 4/23 to replace my 4-iron, and I am very happy with the results. So now I am on the hunt to get a 3 or even a 2. That should complete my set very nicely.

I have the 1/14* THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST FEELING AND EASY TO HIT HYBRID ON MARKET AND CRAZY LONG! I've tried most of the BIG NAME HYBRIDS and this NICKENT is not even in the same ballpark as the big names.....MUCH BETTER! The UST Speed rated 75 shaft is a huge plus, this is the engine! And this engine is HOT! OVERALL, this is the BEST IRONWOOD/HYBRID I've ever played!

  Simply the best!!!!! Excellet +++

If I could rate this line of clubs as Excellent +++ I would. I have tried all the major brands of woods and hybrids. To make a long story short, I now have four Nickent Hybrids in my bag. I don't hit long irons well, so these help me out. I own 6,5,4, & 3 iron replacement hybrids. Easy to hit, easy to look at, good out of the rough, great from the fairway. Just off the green, use the Nickent, they work GREAT!!

I also think that Cleveland woods are great, along with their Halo line. But the Nickent line is a step high on the golf chain!!

There is a reason why Nickent is the #1 Hybrid on the pro tours.

  Hybrid Gofl Club Purchase
Review created: 11/02/06

I am very pleased with my recent purchase of the Nickent Genex 3DX Ironwood hybrid club. It was a brand new, still in the plastic wrap, club and the price I paid was significantly what I could have bought it for through golf retail shops and online wholesalers. Nickent produces a quality of club that rivals the major club mfrs. In fact because I had read reviews of the Nickent club in national golf publications I wanted to try one for myself and I couldn't be happier with the club itself and, most importantly, the results I get with it on the course. It has a great feel at impact, and its look and design are pleasing to the eye at address. Thanks Ebay.

  Great Clubs!!!

I'm just getting back into the game after about 30 years because my 13 yr. old son started playing every day. When picking out my new club set, I decided to try a Nickent hybrid. The first time I hit it, I was sold!!! I ended up buying the #2-4 Nickent 3DX hybrids, a set of Mizuno MP32 irons (5-SW), and a Cobra Comp 414 driver. I don't even need long irons or fairway woods anymore. Just as well, I always hated hitting those clubs. I look forward to hitting the Nickents because I know I am going to hit them well and they feel so great. For me, these clubs put the fun back into golf. I was always a low handicapper, but long irons and fairways woods used to kill my score. Now I'm anxiously looking forward to breaking 70. I just received another 3DX in the mail while I was writing this review. It is for my son. He is also a hybrid freak!!! Bought it off eBay for $69.oo. What a deal!!! We've tried the other hybrids and the Nickent is the best. The Taylormades are also real nice, but don't come stocked with the black Winn grips, which we both really like.

I was immediately impressed after hitting tne club just a few times!!!! I shoot low to mid 80's from the tips(back tees). Club is easy to hit out of the rough and very bad lies. I have the 4 wood 23degree. Played in a tournament last week best ball 2nd shot I was 220 out eagled the hole!! I can hit it 200 to 225 easy to work the ball. Low shot under a tree got it. Short an simple the club works my friends that still hit 3 irons call it a old mans club but I keep beating them with it some people just don't get ha ha!! P.S. If u miss a tee shot short don't worry pull out your ironwood and putt for BIRDIE and I have a used older model not the new one . The club pro at course we played the other day had a nickent 2dx ironwood in his bag go figure !!!!!

My Genex 3DX 20 degree hybrid replaced my 3-iron. I can hit the ball higher and further from a variety of lies. It was a no-brainer decision. I like it so well I bought the 17-degree version to replace my 5-wood on windy days or tight courses.

Great all around hybrid. Good for fairway par five second shots, excellent for long par threes or long shots into the wind and greatest feature as a rescue club around the green. A multi purpose club for more useful than a standard 3 iron!!!!This is also a Tour spec shaft, very rare and you can see the results. For exceeds performance of stock shafts!!

  Awesome hybrid

2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This is my first review. My index is a 9.5 and I consistently shoot in the mid to low eighties. This is easily the best hybrid available and I have tried many different brands. The Adams were the next best, but what no one seems to mention that's great about these clubs is the FEEL. These clubs feel great when you hit them. Not only are they easy to hit and you get a great ball flight, but they feel great too! I have the previous version Nickents with steel shafts in 3 & 4, but plan to change those to this model in graphite some day. My first one like this model was a 2 iron replacement, and I just picked up the 1 so it will be the longest club in my bag besides my driver. I cannot hit a fairway wood to save my life, so this will have to be it. By the way folks, these reviews have nothing to do with the seller, so try to keep your focus on product review! End of rant..lol

Much easier to hit than a 2 or 3 iron. This club replaced my 2 and 3 iron and was worth every penny. Very easy to hit and gets the ball up fast while throwing it long and soft. Recommended for all types of players. I'm a scratch golfer and this club has helped me be more consistent from the 215 to the 230yd range.

I already had a Nickent 3 iron Hybrid and love it, so I thought I would add a 4 iron to my bag. This is a great hybrid that performs just as good as the bigger name brands without the outrageous price tag. Why spend that kind of money on a club taht you'll only hit a couple times a round.Great club

nickent is a fast growing leader in hybrid clubs.
Review created: 09/05/06
by:
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This hybrid club is very good for golfers who have a hard time hitting long irons, you get the ball up higher with less effort and without losing distance. It is also easier for golfers who have a hard time hitting out of the rough because of the way the club is constructed. Because of the shorter shaft and larger head you get more consistant and better hits which all golfers stride to do to improve their game. Nickent has done a very good job of constructing a club that has a good feel, thereby allowing you to maximzing your shot.

The club has a 1/4 inch scratch on the top that even though it doesn't affect the play, it is noticable every time you set the club down. It was not mentioned at all in the description. I did like the fact that the seller gave me immediate feedback because I had completed my part of the transaction, rather than waiting on my feedback and responding accordingly thru my feedback. So, I still gave him a positve feedback.
