Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich (2001, Hardcover)

I had purchase the book to read over the summer for an English AP class I'll be taking this fall in high school. Given that it was mandatory, I didn't think that I would enjoy, being that I never really enjoy books that are forced upon me. Well, the book was excellent. It really gives an accurate insight into our economy with the perfect amount of side commentary. The author describes how she works as a cleaning maid, and that chapter hit me the hardest. My mother works as a freelance cleaning maid, and I felt the relevence, how this was everyday America. It's a really good read.
