1. For starters, the battery life is terrible. I’ve owned my i530 for about a year now. The battery life is lucky to last through the entire day. Typically, I have to put it in the charger at some point during the day to charge the battery.

2. The display is not in color. However, this isn’t exactly a bad thing. Sometimes with color, the display is difficult to read, depending if you are in the sun.

3. Phone software is limited. The software, which is downloadable free from Motorola’s website, is very limited to what you can do with the phone. You can manage your address book, that’s about it. I do recommend the software though. All you’ll need to do is purchase a usb cable to connect to the phone and computer for connectivity. That cable will run you between $15 to $30, depending on where you buy it.

Positives about the Phone:
1. The phone is very durable. I don’t know how many times I’ve dropped it and it still stays in one piece. The Nextel phone (i530) has a durable exterior. You can also purchase the yellow exterior to jazz things up, but most often the phone comes in black.

2. The software is easy to use with the phone. Like I said before, the software is limited to use. You can only manage your address book with it. I’ve got hundreds of numbers in my phone.

3. With the i530, you can connect via walkie-talkie mode. This is very handy if your on a team or in a group that uses this form of commo. Pretty simple to use, press the button and wait for the other person to pick up. All you need is their direct id number and you can connect to the other Nextel person.

4. Ringers. The phone has several different ringers to choose from. I have a few setup for certain people who call me, but most of my contacts use the walkie-talkie. You can also put it in vibrate mode, in case you go to a meeting and need it quiet.

5. Nextel service. Since I’ve had the phone, the only places I’ve lost service (in dead zones) has been near the eastern coast up in New England and way up there in northen Main and Vermont. I don’t think Nextel has service in Canada.

I have nextel service and I wanted a new phone. I went to order the i830 and by mistake got this phone. I tried to talk to the seller to see if I could get another phone from him but he declined. He just did not want to work with me at all. I don't like anything about this phone.The customer service was poor. I do take blame for getting the wrong phone but he could have worked with me.

this is an ok phone, I like the size, I don't like that alot of the keys you can't set up the way you would like them, the speaker isn't very good sounding, If I had it to do again, I would pass on this phone for something more up to date.

had this phone and was very satisfied with it i work construction and it out last all my others phones but o could not find one in a store so iwent on ebay and there it was so i bid and won very happy with product

bought it for a friend he is satisfied with it. needed for work. would get another one from this seller. got everything that was ordered.

I will never have another phone. This is my second one and the only reason I had to buy a new one is because my dog chewed up my last one.

We purchased these items for our field crews because they withstand the use. These phones were immediately put into service and are working just great, as stated they would. Thanks!

I had excellent luck with a Nextel i95 this was similar size & shape but rugged looking.I have another i530(yellow) it cuts out and batteries dont last a day.I bought MANY new batteries but the problem remains
I needed a replacement and wanted the good features of the yellow one without hi cost in case it didn't fix the problems.
The phone is ok but the seller has yet to give feedback,eventhough I payed the same day and sent moneyorder next day air(payment/shipping cost more than the phone)

There i530 nextel phones doesnt have alot of features but are very reliable ,affordable, and tough phones ! I personally use them for the nextel radio and the design for these phones are built for what most people use these phones for ! The battery life isnt the best but I have been through 4 of these in the last year ! Other than drooping in them in water or running over them they are very duarable and will withstand a beating !

This phone it the best phone for guys out in the field. It is moisture resistent and ours have been dropped on multiple occasions without damage.

I won the bid for a used Nextel i530. I sent in the payment for it and waited 2 weeks for delivery... I was very disappointed when I recieved it... The discription read used and in good shape. When I recieved it, it looked like it was 10 years old. Numbers on the keypad were worn, many scratches, all numbers left in it's memory. This was a $5.00 five dollar cell phone...I think some people should be more honest when describing what they're selling...

The company I work for uses these phones for business purposes. We chose this type of phone because of the "walkie talkie" feature. It is cheaper to use than a normal cell phone and easier since it is not necessary to dial the phone.

this phone is rugged i don't know how many times i've dropped this phone out of my bucket and it keeps on working the new company i work for went with the brick i went through 3 of them in a hurry i bought one of the i 530 put the sim in and the rest is history shawn berry

THE PHONE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE AND SERVICE WAS FAST.U COULD NOT ASK FOR A BETTER PHONE. IT WAS LIKE BRAND NEW.

The phone was in as described conition or better. The price was fair and the seller went out of thier way to accept payment over the telephone; great communication. The phone arrived very quickly after the time of purchase and included detailed information in the event that a return was necessary. It was a pleasure doing business with this seller, and I will be a return customer.

I upgraded my nextel I530 to a newer phone and was very displeased with the up grade, I had my I530 before and wanted to go back to this phone however Nextel quit making the phone so I went on Ebay and got not one but two I530s one for my wife this is the best plain phone I think Nextel ever made.

It came as expected in excellent shape, I was to use it for the school but they are going to an updated system. But I will still be able to use it.

I needed the phone for work purposes, it make my job so much easier. I am the accounting manager for several different companies and need info from guys in the field all the time. I love the walkie-talkie feature. My only dislike is that I never get to leave the job now they can always contact me day or night, and I had better answer. Nextel's are commonly used by construction workers, guys that need a basic phone with two way capabilities. The 530 is just that. Since they discontinued the i530, Nextel has added features that 99% their consumers never use to drive up the prices of their phones. Hence, why I buy every i530 I can find on ebay for my workers-- they're efficient, work great, and don't cost $300 to replace when one of my guys drives over one or drops it in a live sewer manhole (even if it worked--I'm not going in after it). Construction workers are tough on phones, paying what Nextel wants for the new phones is ridiculous. Buy an i530 for short money, and you'll be pleased with the value. Just don't outbid me. I always need a spare.

I bought this as a gift for my husband who needs a dependable cell phone as he had just purchased a brand new one and dropped it and it broke. This is excellent, very durable and is large enough that it won't slip out of your hand while your working or doing other things. There is nothing we dislike about this cell phone!!! Very very well manufactured and built cell phone!!
