Another great book by Crichton, taking genetics up in a classic debate that only Crichton does so well. An even mix of reality and fiction makes this story believeable and engrossing.

Crichton tells a tale of misguided genetic manipulating antics. This book is mostly a criticism of the current state of university research and the practice of patenting gene sequences.
Loosely related threads are forced together in the end of the book for a less than satisfying conclusion that flirts with Deus ex machina.
Too many lack luster characters blend together to make this book average at best. Crichton is capable of much better.

"Next" is an Exciting read, would make a great film!I don't get the chance to read books for myself very often and thought I'd take a chance on this when I saw it on the check out counter at Borders while purchasing books for my young son.
I loved the plot. I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters in pretty good detail considering how many storylines were going on at once. I thought it was extremely exciting and can't wait until they make a movie out of it.
A+ rating for me!
