New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii, 2009)

I bought this because my boyfriend and I love playing Mario together. I haven't played this one yet but I am sure it is going to be awesome. I Love playing these games with him :)

I think this is a very good game.This game is clasic and now we can play with 4 players at the same time ilove this game i recomend to everybody.

I really, really like New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I have no qualms with saying this is a far better game than the Nintendo DS version, and it could easily be the finest Super Mario Bros. 2D platformer Nintendo's ever created. You should absolutely get a copy, no question.

But, and it's a big "but," Nintendo did not use this opportunity wisely. For as big a project as this could have been, this game's impact is weakened by many factors. It plays it safe with established gameplay with very little in the way of new innovation. It also lacks online multiplayer in a generation where such a feature is expected.

I had a great time plowing through all eight worlds (and then some), but the nagging feeling of it seeming like a step backwards kept creeping in. As a gamer I love New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but as a critic I just couldn't let the issues slide.

Nintendo gives us the status quo here, not going above and beyond in features.

Very modest visuals: 3D characters, 2D backgrounds, with the occasional lighting effect.

The Mario soundtrack has some great old favorites and some fun new ditties.

Brilliant 2D platforming and challenges makes this the best of the 2D Mario best.

The multiplayer aspect makes this a game you'll come back to again and again.

I decided to buy the new Mario Bros.Wii for my teens because I enjoyed Mario in the '80's. Let me tell you, times for Mario have changed. The old school ways of searching for cheats and tips are over. The new game offers unlockable walkthroughs and secrets that will get any player through a level. The levels are all challenging, but there is the new advantage of playing as a group, or in my case, a family. With four of us on the game, we can either work together or against each other, but we are always in for a laugh.
Mario also has a new batch of power items that tweaks the capabilities of the characters from what we have known. Some familiar items like the leaf in Mario 3 that gives the gift of flight, have evolved into a propeller helmet. Instead of just a fire flower, Mario now has an ice flower, too. Another new addition is the mini mushroom that shrinks the characters down to the point that gravity cares little about them. And a penguin suit that comes in handy in the ice and water levels.
Also, we have to move around to play properly. Jumping and shaking the remote is definitely part of the fun. I don't have very many complaints about Mario's new game, but, I do have one. I would have liked to see Princess Peach as a playable character. I think the whole 'kidnapped until the last level' thing is slightly played out.
All in all, this is a great game that has come a long way from where it began, and the evolution is well worth the play time.

I have always been a fan of the Mario Series. when I loaded in this game I found it hard to put the controller down. The new inovations that they have added are amazing, with flying around like a a helicopter gone crazy, or icing every one and then throwing them into other enemies. But the real fun began when my friend join the game. At times it became a heated contest to see who could mess the other up worst, eventually came down to us strategizing on how to get past the nest area. Making this multiplayer is exactly what mario has been missing. Can't wait to see what else they come up with next.

It's great it has a little bit of all the previous games in this game. Very fun but still gatting use to it.

this game is so much fun! its like a remake of super mario bros. 3 and super mario world, with a new tricks!
The story is simple, basically what you would expect from a Mario game: the Koopalings and Bowser Jr. Manage to kidnap Princess Peach, and Mario, Luigi, and the plumbers new friends (blue and yellow toad) start their adventure.
As far as levels go, this game has a little bit of everything from past Mario games, the Koopalings/Ghost Houses/Towers/Airships/Toad Houses/Power-ups and so on. Even Yoshi makes his grand re-appearance! Fun, fun. If you love to explore, then this game is definitely for you, the hidden exits will have you scratching your head, I have yet to even find one...
New to the game is the multiplayer mode, not only for mini-games, but also for the main story mode. Playing with another person changes the experience completely. Everything becomes chaotic, but chaotic good. If you don´t take it too seriously, multiplayer is lots of fun, although you will lose a lot of lives even in the first level of the game. Of course that if play multiplayer just to win the game, the experience may fell a little boring and tedious, as you need a great amount of coordination that is only available after many hours of practice.
Definitely a great buy if you love Mario & enjoy crawling down sewer pipes and kicking turtles around ;-), you can't miss this game. Great presentation, good graphics and superb addictive game play with or without your mates. So many different levels and abilities, plus items to collect throughout. This game is an absolute joy to play.
