In general I've found Barron's handbooks very informative and surprisingly filled with nice photography in a compact affordable soft-cover format. The New Saltwater Aquarium Handbook is no exception. I have a huge collection of aquarium related books and magazines - this is one of the books I recomend to beginners - but it is also readable by an expert like myself and does not "dumb down" the subject. Detailed practical guidance - a must for a quick read for long term success!! Very affordable.
