Notes The film was shot on location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and Glendale, Queens. The City of Newark refused to give the filmmakers permission to shoot in their city; Newark once had the highest rate of car thefts in the country.
Nick Gomez partly based the film on a series of articles in "The New York Times" about Newark teenagers.
The budget for the film was $4 million.
