A macabre story wrapped in a mundane setting. Eerie, yet comfortably familiar. A strangely brilliant literary work giving one cause to ponder current philosophical issues. A must read!

Bought Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro (2006, Paperback, Reprint, for my daughter. It's for her summer reading for school.

ishiguro has infused such meticulous and perceptive (which i find in other japanese masters such as murakami) touch into the characters, which were well developed under an extremely creatively crafted umbrella. a touching and satisfying read.

I recently read this book and enjoyed it very much. While the story is a bit sad and melancholy, it is philosophical and beautifully written. It's a rather contemporary perspective on relationships and reflections on one's past. I've never read Remains of the Day by Ishiguro, but plan to after reading this book. I'm personally a Hesse, Camus fan - so if you like them as well, you'll probably enjoy this though it is a bit different.

Purchased for a Book Club and thoroughly enjoyed it. While not exciting in terms of action, I found it difficult to turn down because I needed to know what happened next or exlaniations for events. Thought provoking but not preachy - the book leaves you thinking but gives no hint of the authors opinion.
Well written. Finished it 3 weeks ago and still occasionally think back to it.
