what i love was the cheap price where as a new one would cost at the store about 65 to 70 dollars this one was at tops with shiping and handling total less then 40 and it was sealed brand new but all things aside the dvds where high quality had every thing that it said it did and it even came with director's cut episodes tho they where on different discs

I bought the Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum: The Complete Collection a few weeks ago mainly because I am a huge fan of the series. This series has been released quite a few times already so, What makes this Platinum release so special? Well for starters it has 5.1 surround sound and remastered video. It also has 4 Director's cut episodes which reveal even more character development to the story. You have NEVER truly seen NGE until you have seen it in its Platinum form. If you are a fan of the series like me, totally worth it for your collection. If you're new to the series remember that it's not all action since it contains many psychological aspects in the story, in other words there will be a lot of talking and explaining, so think if you like this sort of anime before you buy it. Either way, you will NOT be dissapointed!!!

I first saw Evangelion when I was 14-- Shinji's age. It didn't make much sense then, but I knew that I was onto something magnificent. The first episode rattled me... the Berserker Eva, Shinji's fear. Four years later, after I've sold my original boxed set, I decided it was time to relive Evangelion. Buying this Platinum set was definitely great; the first episode still unnerved (no pun intended) me like it had all those year before. I saw now what I couldn't see before. Evangelion has so much complexity and symbolism packed into it, it is impossible for someone so small to grasp it all. The characters, even in the first few episode, are so much more than a few layers deep, it is incredible. With underlaying allusions to Judaism and the inverted tree of life, Evangelion is STILL, and always was, one of the greatest animes.

This set is for the most part, quite watchable, standard anime fare.
A young reluctant hero, countered with cute but more mature girls, piloting giant robots. Neat twist, the robots need an extention cord! So whats not to love? The tendency of anime to decend into weighty introspective analisis, and this was the case with the lase few episodes.

Of course, Evangelion is amazing. The Anime was filled with awesome material, but the ending lacked. To make up for this, the 4 Evangelion movies are being released. Overall, this Anime is just...amazing. The only people in which I've met who haven't liked it were people who cant put up with no action for 5 minutes.

This product was purchased as a birthday gift for my son. I asked him for the names of some of the anime he liked (to go with a travel DVD he was also getting). This was one of the titles he suggested. Upon opening it, he was thrilled. He says it is the best of this genre. I am not an expert, but it does seem to be well done for anime. I would suggest it is not for younger teenagers and would only purchase for someone over 17. Bottom line is that this appears to be an excellent set of DVDs for this type of subject matter.

I was looking for a better price on amazon and the location to find this title, I found that it was easier to order it through eBay being at a great cost and closer location.

As soon as i got the movie in the mail, i ripped it open, watched them all with popcorn, and watched it again. I flippin love it!!! If you haven't watched Neon Genesis, then what the heck's wrong with you people. Highly recommend buying movies/shows such as this one from this seller!

This is the best way to buy the series. It includes a nice director's cut of some of the last episodes. This series has gotten huge acclaim and is one of the most watched anime series. The thing is, I find nothing remarkable about it. It is definitely worth having in your collection, but it is not one of the best series ever. The ending is completely incomprehensible. I appreciate the psychological analysis, but many fans may not. Not for everyone, but a must for all serious anime fans!

I bought this for my daughter who asked for it for christmas, she loves it and thats all that matters. I really don't follow Anime.

If you like anime, and you do not know what evangelion is....YOU MUST HAVE BEEN UNDER A ROCK FOR THE PAST DECADE!!! Anyway, you got to love this anime. It has it all, giant robots, intense battles, an chilling and mysterious plot, and twists and turns that will give you chills running down your spine. This anime definitely is a one of a kind. Once you have finished watching the series, you will be craving for more, thus movies where also made to satisfy that. Trust me anime lovers, this series is a must own.

I don't know much about it, but my younger sister does! She absolutly loves anime, and this is one of her favorites! She earns money by doing chores, and she always spends it on this genre of dvd's. Sorry it's not much help for a review, but I can tell you that she sees it as money well spent.

This is a series that you can watch repeatedly and discover new things each and every time. Confusing and absurd might be your first reaction, but in all the series Neon Genesis (Eva) will stand in times shadow as a true cult-classic. Character development is a constant changing event in this series that leaves you questioning what will happen next at each episode's end. Do not simply watch this series in English and be done with it, watch Eva in Japanese as well to grasp a further understanding of the writer's plot which you might not see only in English. A timeless story that anyone can relate to regardless their age, background, or ethnicity.

you can never go wrong with Eva. all these new DvDs look like the show was just made recently. I'm watching Eva as if it just came out and im loving it. buy it if you see them.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of my favorite shows. It is an anime sensation. The characters and plot are really enjoyable. I bought this DVD collection because I have always wanted to own the show and be able to watch it whenever I could. The box for the set is very nicely decorated with pictures of the characters, which makes it even better. Definitely a good buy for any anime fan.

The Platinum Complete Collection is separate from the simple Platinum Collection because it contains tons of awesome extras as well as the episodes, and contains more Director's Cut episodes. There's a featurette about the woman who plays Asuka in the dub...apparently, she owns hundreds of pieces of Asuka merchandise, and she gives you a tour of her Asuka room.
The commentaries on the middle disks are my favorite because they feature Asuka's and Misato's voice actresses, and they both adore Evangelion and being a part of the project. The later ones are also great. (Some of the earlier commentaries featuring the crew and Shinji's voice actor focus more on technical aspects and other similar projects, rather than just Evangelion, and it seems to get a bit tangental.)
And of course, best of all, there's Shinji's Rant. On Episode 26, at the credits, switch your audio to the last English voice track available; Shinji's voice actor - as Shinji - delivers a biting, hilarious commentary on the ending of the show that plays over the credits.
If you like Evangelion, it's for you. You'll love it because it adds a whole new element to the show you already love. If you've never seen Evangelion before, it's for you. You'll love it: it's a great show and it's an anime classic.

i watched evangelion on adult swim, and was confused to see that 3 episodes were missing so i decided to purchase the set. it was well worth it.

Watching Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum is like watch Evangelion for the first time. 5.1 surround sound and remastered video really show up the magnificence of the episodes, furthermore, director's cut episodes are very interesting and reveal some mysteries. If you've already seen Evangelion you should buy it to discover all the improvements this version has and if you don't know nothing about this amazing anime, this is the perfect box set to become a fan of the anime masterpiece ever seen.
