Neil Young - Heart of Gold (DVD, 2006)

I rented this DVD a week prior to my purchase. I had to have it in my personal collection of Music dvd's. I have been a fan of Neil young since the 70's. What a marvelous way to hear his new album Praire Wind. not only is there new music but this DVD is a retrospect of music and Neil's Personal account of who and why he wrote these fantastic songs. The interveiws with neil and his friends gives such a personal connection to the music, the moment, and the people. If you are a Neil Young fan this DVD is must have.

Even if you don't like Neil Young's music, you have to admire the man's desire and talent to create such a masterpiece! Wrote 10 songs in 10 days, went to have anurysum surgery and came back after recovery to preform live. Great Neil Young accoustical music at it's best!

I have always been a Neil Young fan. When I heard Heart of Gold was released I could'nt wait to see it. I was thrilled with the results. I swear Neil gets better with age. I just loved the songs he sang from Prairie Wind. The Special Features Dvd with interviews from Neil and his band members and friends was excellent. Professionally, Neil is one of those rare performers that can play country, rock, blues,or just about anything and do it very well. Personally, Neil seems like a down to earth kind of guy, with old fashioned values, love for the land, and pride. Don't hesitate to see Heart Of Gold. You'll love it!! S. Rice Blandon Pa.

This is awesome. The production of back stage and how it was made is pure joy for any Neil fan. I am an old guy, 54, and I will watch this over and over. He does deserve to be in the Hall of Fame 4 times.

Acoustic Neil Young....Super DVD. I liked the fact that it was a Live recording, IN DTS Audio and all acoustic with a great backup group. SThe picture quility is also very good.

This is one incredible film. I am speaking to Neil Young fans. If you don't watch the credits, you miss another performance.
The film is dedicated to his daddy - whom had just passed. I about busted a tear as I saw his eyes swell up talking about it.
Growing up with the music of NY and the groups he played with, I never really thought of him as a regular guy. This film makes him one.
OH YA, he plays Hank Williams, Sr., Martin guitar (ca 1951). HW played it at the Opery in 1951 and Neil bought it around '71. He stated that he was glad to have it back in at the Opery.
Great Music, considering that Neil wrote the new music and played it live for the first time in a 10 day period.
Great Interviews on the Special Features Disk.
Plenty of music to satisfy - no crowd shots, all band shots and the members have played with Neil for over 30 years.
He does not reproduce any of his old material, but plays it as if it were for the first time.
If you don't love this DVD, place it up for auction. You will get your money back.

I had seen part of this wonderful DVD on HBO & couldn't wait to see it ALL! Being a fan from early on, I would say, without a doubt, this is some of Neil's best work to date. So much deep feeling, meaningful songs, the musicians are true experts. Neil's expert playing of the guitar, banjo & piano really shines.
He speaks candidly before singing most songs, telling you about himself , family & friends. He's relaxed, deep into the music, & it's clear he loves what he is doing. Emmy Lou Harris adds a lot to this fine production. This is a very personal, intimate work. It's stunning to watch everyone take a bow at the same time when the show ends. I didn't want it to be over. I have purchased another copy, so I will always have one. There is two kinds of this production, one being the show only, the other with 2 DVD'S & lot of added bonus footage, comments,& very interesting information. Get the Special Edition 2 dvd set, it's worth every penny. Heart of Gold is a true work of art that only Neil Young could do. Filmed at the famous Grand 'Ol Opry Reiman Auditorium, you will never forget this beautiful,thought provoking, toe tapping show. The only thing I didn't like is that I wasn't there! Neil Young has NEVER been better! Buy it before it goes out of print. This one's a keeper.

Great to see how much Neil has retained as far as talent, energy and wit goes. The concert starts off kind of slow, but they should, because by the time he gets into his old standards you are captured. You find yourself wishing it would never end, or like me you just go back and watch the whole thing again. The off stage interview bits are awsome, especially with Emmylou. Check this one out you won't be disappointed.

It's just a great piece of music. Timeless, honest, sensitive, beautiful...a must have for any Neil Young fan.

Giving anything less than 4 stars for this great film would be nuts. Truly a classic by any measure.

Heart of Gold by Neil Young is a most treasured work that comes to us from Neil's very own heart of gold. This true man of passion, not only for his music but for his beliefs, brings his audience a masterpiece to treasure. This is a most memorable concert that we are very glad we purchased on EBAY and now will have in our music library for a long time to come. We also love the fast service and good prices on Ebay and will shop again and again.

I decided to buy this because I have become a huge fan of Neil's over the years. I was not dissapointed. I have listened to the cd " prairie wind" many times, and enjoy it more each time. The dvd "Heart of gold " is a live introduction of that album. Neil has never sounded better, and the talent he has with him is incredible. you will not be dissapointed with this dvd.

When I'm looking for a particular DVD or product on eBay, I make sure I shop around. I look on the auctions, and in the stores! Combine the items price with the cost of shipping, and sometimes there is little or no difference with the buy it now price. In some cases it could be cheaper.

Neil Young - Heart of Gold (2006, DVD) My wife is a huge Neil Young fan, I picked up the DVD for her as a gift. She enjoyed it much more than I, but I had a new respect and appreciation for Neil Young after watching it. Great DVD for a Sunday afternoon. If your a Neil Young fan, it of course is a must for your collection.

I was desperately looking for a birthday gift for my brother when it occurred to me to look at DVDs on ebay. I know he is a Neil Young fan so I bought the Heart of Gold movie for him. I love buying birthday gifts on ebay since the sellers will almost always ship directly to the recipient, saving me a trip to the post office. I haven't seen the movie myself so I can't comment on it, but I know it was new and a great value and that my brother was excited to receive it.

there is nothing to dislike about it but my brother both love and like it and when i won the dvd for him he was so excited about it and he watched the dvd and he really enjoyed it. It feels like you're in his tour bus riding with him on tour. And it's a must have for any hardcore neil young fan>

This is Neil Young without all the anger. Usually, I don't like musicians chatting in between songs, but here it fit well. He talked about losing his dad and then had a fitting tribute. Lost my dad around the same time - felt like he was singing for me. Good backup musicians and Neil didn't hog the spotlight. Meloncholy, but not maudlin. Great new tunes I haven't heard and oldies fit in. I bought it as a gift for my brother, but I may have to shop for another one. Also, you should consider buying "Concert for George". No relation, just a great video to own.

Had rented DVD before wanted to purchase the DVD for my owen collection. We liked it so much. Its a great video of Neil Youngs lates concert.

This movie is a must see by any Neil Young fan. All music fans will enjoy the historic value of the people and places described in this film. Nashville is a wonderful place, the Ryman Auditorium ( The Grand Old Opre ) Fantastic. Emmy Lou Harris is gorgeous!!

I wrote the seller and told them well in advance that it was for a fathers day gift numerous times--The seller had approx 1 month to deliver The DVD by letter post (a four day delivery). The seller never even bothered to send the DVD at all. Because this DVD is not available where I live I had no unique gift to give my dad for fathers day. An absolutely beautiful experience for Neil Young fans. Much insight into his personal thoughts and experiences. You can't go wrong.

Great DVD. Excellent in every way. Great. The Best Ever. Shows the great talented performer and song writer as well. Didn't want it to end. Will be a collector's item in years to come. Will sure hold on to mine. I loved every moment of it.

I rented this Neil Young DVD from Netflix three weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the sound quality and new songs. The New DVD is perfect for listening to or watching a concert extra features are good too. I have no complaints. Overall, I'd recommend the DVD, that's why I bought it to add to my collection.

i love the content of the 2 disc set!nothing says hippy like a good neil young tribute cd! i love this guy's attitude toward life! and you can see it thoughout the dvd!

this is a neil young must have. Bonus disc has needle and damage done live from long ago that song alone is worth buying.
