Here is Neil Young and Crazy Horse at their best. Crank up the surround sound and enjoy a well-recorded concert. The 12-string acoustic sounds like it's next to you and when they rock out each instrument is clear and precise. Absolute must-buy! I can't wait until they restore and remaster this film!

I really didn't get all the little gremlins running around, but then maybe you had to be there with a bit of physodelics to really appreciate them. The music and band are excellent, well worth the price of admission.

Pretty good music even if it was done long ago. Bought it to get my Neil Young fix, it worked. Nice acoustic guitar and harmonica set progresses to more electric stuff. The set is kinda weird and kinda cool. Quite fun to watch.

Hey hey my my ,,,, hope Neil Young will never die !

Come on. This is an artest that never sold out to the add execs. When I buy a cd or dvd I try to find one that will give me pleasure when I play it and not just for the first time after which I sell it at a yard sale or use it to throw at beer cans stacked on a log.
Neil Young has been with us thru several generation phases boomer, gen x, gen y, and mabey gen next, he has captured the feelings of the times as a sort of bookmark for rescent history. Now I am off to bid on some boot leg Frank Sinatra tapes (realy dirty lyrics).

  Great show

I especially enjoyed the "electric" portion of the show. The Live Rust album was my first exposure to Neil Young and I loved it 30 years ago. "Powderfinger" and "Cinnamon Girl" are particular highlights for me on this DVD. Lots of good shots of Neil spastically wailing away and Crazy Horse pounding right there with him. I thought it was especially cool how his bass and rhythm guitar player would share the microphone with him on harmony vocals. Fortunately the cameras focused more on Neil and the band rather than the crowd, unlike other concert DVDs.

Rust Never Sleeps because it sounds so good!
Review created: 05/01/08

This is a vintage flick full of old school concert vibes. I saw this movie ten times in the seventies and it just gets better and better. Starting with the acoustic set full of the classic tunes that catapulted Young into superstardom, then for a awakening thunderstorm of Rock with Neil and Crazy Horse tearing up the stage with anthems like "Hey Hey My My, Rock and Roll will never die" and " Cinnamon Girl" or " Welfare Mothers". This is everything a concert video should be with premium quality DTS sound. It just ROCKS!!!

Neil Young & Crazy Horse Rust Never Sleeps Concert
Review created: 03/06/08

I would recomend this concert to anyone that's a Neil Young fan. Neil Young and Crazy Horse rock out. Great songs, great concert. The only think I didn't like were the alien looking creatures he had running around during the concert, they could of skipped that part of the entertainment. Overall, Great!

Excellent concert but the DVD does not feature a crystal clear picture. Someone should have cleaned it up.

  Almost Perfect
Review created: 08/05/07

If you are a true Neil Young fan, this is a must have. The transfer to dvd was masterfully done. This is an incredible performance, and while Neil's library is so extensive, you'll always leave his concerts unfulfilled by not hearing every song you would have love for him to have performed, this one does cover the highlights of his career up to 1979. This is nearly a flawless concert dvd, and I only have one complaint, which has remained true since this concert was originally released. There is a considerable amount of attention on this film to the roadies, which is fine, and they are entertaining. But the noise they make when moving equipment around, I think is recorded too loud, so loud as to be a distraction. This is especially true for 5.1 surround sound, and after you have the set the volume you want to hear the concert in then having to turn that perfect volume down to compensate for the moving noises. This distraction alone keeps this from being his all time best dvd concert release.

  Rock Visionary
Review created: 06/20/07

Neil Young understands better than anyone else the dramatic possibilities of rock music. This nineteen-seventies stage wedding of Young's unique lyrical touch with sometimes absurd scenery and staged theatrics evokes ancient Greek drama while poking fun at itself and the rock culture.

I bought this for my spouse. It give us time together just like going to the real concert. Since we were to young to see Neil Young at Woodstock it was the next best thing to being there.
