  Great Game... NFS Carbon
Review created: 11/26/06

After rebooting the franchise with Need for Speed Underground, EA has continued to produce some solid street racers under the Need for Speed banner. Last year's Need for Speed Most Wanted, which featured hilariously over-the-top live-action cutscenes and seriously tense police pursuits, proved to be a high watermark for the franchise. Now it's being followed up by Need for Speed Carbon, which downplays the role of the police chases, introduces some simple team-racing mechanics, and occasionally takes the action off the city streets and into the outlying canyons. The new gameplay doesn't always improve the experience, but the racing can still be quite intense and still has a pronounced sense of style.
Carbon continues the story where Most Wanted left off. For those just tuning in, Most Wanted ended with you recovering your stolen car and bailing out of the city of Rockport while the overzealous, anti-street-racing Sgt. Cross continued his pursuit. At the start of Carbon, you're making your way to Palmont City when Cross, now a bounty hunter, catches up with you and totals your car during the chase. Before he can collect his bounty on you, though, your old friend Darius steps in and pays off Cross. You are then put to work, taking over the turf of the other rival street-racing crews in Palmont City. It seems that you've got a history in this town that predates the events in Most Wanted. And during the course of the game, you'll learn more about that fateful night you skipped town. Different characters will give their takes on the night you supposedly ran off with a big red duffle bag full of cash. And by the end of the game, you'll not only find out what really happened, but you'll have taken over all of the street-racing territory in Palmont City.

Outside of the actual gameplay, one of the more endearing aspects of Most Wanted was the way it used live actors in CG environments for its story sequences. These sequences invariably featured plenty of actor/model types, trying a little too hard to talk tough and failing spectacularly at it. The technique remains the same in Carbon, though there are more story sequences now and a slightly more self-aware tone. The heavy use of flashbacks is an interesting idea, but the story ends up being kind of muddled. And none of the villains come off as particularly menacing. Although it's hard to really qualify any of it as sincerely good, it's just over-the-top enough that folks who enjoy stuff like The Fast and the Furious, ironically or otherwise, should get some enjoyment out of it.

Most Wanted had you racing to raise your visibility with the police and take on the most notorious street racers in Rockport. In Carbon, it's all about turf. Palmont City is divided into four major territories, each of which is predominantly controlled by a different street-racing crew. Each territory is then further divided into zones, and within each zone, you'll find starting points for a variety of different race events. Winning at least two events in a zone will put it under your control. And once you've taken over all the zones in a given territory, you can take on the head of that crew. As you continue to extend your reach across Palmont City, rival crews will come back and try to retake territory the same way you took it from them, forcing you to accept their challenge if you want to maintain control. Having to go back and rerace events that you've already won is kind of a pain, but the open-world structure is n

Another Need For Speed game whoop dee doo.Excuse my language but that's all you're going to get out of me with this game. This game is great. . .yeah right not on this system anyways. The driving feels very unreal,it's more like playing one of those v tech games for kids and just stare at the screen hoping for some real action. The control buttons are way to complicated for this system for example,to actually use the nitrous I had to press up on the directional pad.For my E-brake I had to press left on the directional pad.Gee whiz, and to just use my normal brakes I had to stretch my thumb over button 2 while still holding button 1 for gas.Ha give this to a kid?Yeah right,he'll be swerving out of control trying to figure out how to use this fancy Wiimote. If you're looking for a racing game more realistic this is not it.You'll be so frustrated with the control of the game and how clunky the button functions are.The graphics aren't that bad looking.I wouldn't know if they were trying to make the people look like real people,or still animated.Oh well, guess I'll never know. Please do yourself a favor and wait until they make a pure street racing game for this system only,or else your going to slap yourself trying to figure out the new way of racing and never winning.

  Great but not the best

At first i played it, it was very difficult for me to steer because the wii remote was too sensitive. But i found out that you could use other control figuration. With the Nun chuck, it was very fun to drift. I still like the steering with wii remote but I only use it during circuit or sprint race.

overall is pretty good. Storyline, graphics and cars are great. I like carbon better than most wanted because in carbon, you can actually use the gas station to block other cars when you run into it in any kind of race. The crew member is kind of annoying after a while. But once again, Need for Speed did a great job.

I purchased it "buy now" - and got a message the next day from the seller saying the person didn't even have the product in hand - that in my opinion is so wrong to do and I would not buy from them again - I would've written a negative feedback, but because of the wonderfulness that is ebay, the seller would've just attacked me back with a made up story about something negative that I did

Excellent graphics and fun gameplay. There are multiple ways to control the cars, so don't listen to people about the controls. Once you master your style, there is no stopping you! I highly recommend this game for all you racers out there!

  Not Cool With Wii :(
Review created: 12/29/06

There are better consoles to play Need for Speed: Carbon on, the game just isn't all that enjoyable with the Wii's control system.

Skip it in favor of more traditional means of control. Mastering it is just too big of a hassle, and every other platform's offering has better multiplayer options anyway (a little thing called online).

  Realistic Cars that can Customized.

I bought this for my son. This WII Disc is owesome. It's 3D Dimension. It's not like the Cartoonish Car Racings. The Street Surroundings, the damages on Car Fenders, and the Crashes, are So Real. The Road Maps and the Rear View Mirrors are so Fantastic. And when you play, it looks like you are really there, personally driving it. You have to really concentrate on the On-coming Vehicles on the other side of the Street where you are driving, especially when you drive fast. Like in the Real U.S. Air Force Pilots, when they are in the Simulator Flight Cabin. It's like it's their life if they are not careful and not paying attention. The fun part is, it's so realistic, that my son, on his first try, suddenly quit the game and, I guess, got scared. Like it's really true, happening to him in real life, when he got busted by 2 Cops. I just cracked up. But, he's O.k. now and really enjoying the Game. It's even teaching him how to properly drive on the Streets and have ideas how Traffic Law works. Not bad for a 9 year old boy. This WII Disc can be Commendable, for All Ages. Thanks.

ok, i grew up playing need for speed in PC and i just think the controls for the wii is weird when playing the game. its very sensitive, and if you dont control yourself you'll end up losing the first minute in the game. the game is good though, awesome everything, i just rather stick with NFS in PC. if you want to use your wii wheel, i'd rather be playing mario kart than any serious racing games in the wii.

It has fun game play, structured almost identically to Most Wanted. The controls on the Wii are very good, and extremely easy to get used to. However, like most Wii titles, graphics are lacking, especially when compared to iterations of the game on other systems. But overall, an entertaining title.

My son was buying this item for his brother for Christmas. He was told that it would take three weeks to get this item. After three weeks he never got the item, we try to contact the seller and never could get in touch with him. We did want the item but never got it. Not everyone is like this guy, so keep buying from ebay but also look at their feed back before you buy.

This is another one of those Electronic Arts Need for Speed Releases. This game has nice story, the videos in there are excellent quality. The only thing is that the graphics are not as good as expected. It is actually less graphic then the previous release. The cars in there are nice and hooked up. Races and handling are great. Great Game, Recommended!

Need For Speed Carbon Nintendo Wii
Review created: 09/13/09

Need For Speed Carbon is one of the best Need For Speed games made yet. This is a fun game where you can race, out run the cops, and build your own cars. I would recommend this game for anyone that loves racing games. It is especially fun to play on Nintendo Wii.

  Need for speed carbon wii
Review created: 08/31/09

I love the fact that you have the option to free roam with no timer or limits. Fully customizable cars, great graphics, and the amazing control of the cars is unsurpassed. There is really no draw back significant enough to mention. If you enjoy racing, running from the cops not to mention running them off the road along with any other car you so happen to come across, and very high speeds you will love this game. Even if you so happen to get caught by the cops you can just reload your game and start it all over. It's just a great game.

different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with
nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would
regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use
them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 30 day
free trial and it never cost me a penny and I received credit for it the
same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you.
After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people
(depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link
(just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your
referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your PS3 System or your selected item for free, I
chose the PS3 80gb System. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these
companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all
the referrals. All you have to do is post it ! They use us as
advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes
toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as
Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you

  Great game
Review created: 06/05/09

I bought my Wii to replace my PS2 that was stolen. I loved Midnight Club Dub Edition.
Unfortunately the Midnight club franchise is not available for the wii. Carbon is a great game. I don't like it as much as Midnight Club but it's still very enjoyable. There are tons of cars to choose from and it's a very excitng game.
I love the police chase feature as well as the slowmotion cutscenes when you blow through a police roadblock. It is great that you can race all through the city but the wii controls are a little clunky. There's no option to use the classic or game cube remotes with this game. You HAVE to use motion control, either for steering or for accel/braking and that's difficult to get used to.
But hey, my wife likes it and will play it with me, so that has to count for something.
