  A little confusing title

It is a good book with a lot of history about hatmaking and design, as well as some instructions. It would be great for a costume maker. I was hoping for a lot more modern hat instructions, say from the fedora forward, so it didn't help me as much as I would have liked for the price, but anyone with the need it fills would be delighted.

  From the Neck Up

I purchased my first copy of From the Neck Up in 1984 for my first millinery class, and I still refer to it today. Time has taken a toll on my copy; it is losing it's pages; so I purchased another copy of Ebay. From the Neck Up is easy to read and understand. It clearly teaches the principles and techniques of millinery (couture and theatrical), and it addresses almost every topic that deals with millinery, including design principals, millinery techniques, and supplies. Those purchasing the book will find that, after reading it and following its instructions, their millinery projects will blossom. Text topics include wire frame construction for covered hats, buckram and fabric covered hats, straw braid hats, straw and felt body hats, and much much more. The renovation of hats is also included in the text, as well as a fantastic millinery glossary and also a resource section for hat supplies, as well as a list of organizations/persons offering millinery classes. If you have only enough money to purchase one millinery book, purchase this one.
