E.W.W.Fowler's "Nazi Regalia"

As time passes, and more and more World War II German items are duplicated, it is pretty much a requirement that you have a book of this type to serve as a reference. The book covers a wide variety of uniform types, all the way from the Hitler Youth, up through the senior Nazi leadership, and includes all the miscellaneous accoutrements that go along with the uniform. Fowler uses excellent photographs of museum pieces as examples, and describes the different markings that they may have. It's an exceptional book, and long overdue. Not only uniforms, but flags, pins, medals, sew-on insignia, ceremonial knives and swords, and a real plethora of detail items, many of which I had never seen before, even though I have been a collector for over 30 years. He even covers the obscure areas of such things as labor organisations, Agricultural workers, industrial mementos, etc. A book covering everything would be huge. (There is an ENTIRE BOOK by another author detailing only WWII German helmets) so you can see that trying to cover this is a nearly impossible task. but Fowler has covered most of the major areas, in a work that contrasts the details between what looks like identical hats, collar tabs, etc. It's an excellent reference work, and well worth hunting a copy down, whether you have an interest in WWII history in general, or are a collector looking for specific examples. It also would be a great help to re-enactors who want their uniforms to be correct. The photographs alone are much better than the usual ones seen in other books.
