Software issues hurt an otherwise nice GPS unit

I bought this several months ago after using the Hertz navigation in a rental. I know the Magellan is based on that unit, but I decided to give the Navman a try for the price.
At first I was very happy with the unit. It was small and compact, came with good accessories (like a window mount), and the maps were fairly easy to download to the unit. Navigation was pretty good, and the bright, clear screen was and still is the best feature of this GPS.
However, I experienced multiple problems with the Navman icN 510, and some were not forgiveable. To start, you can't locate Points of Interest (POI) in regard to the location you are currently in. Even when you do locate a POI by typing the name of it in (you have to know the name, it doesn't show you what's available), the HUGE capital letters almost always run off the right side of the screen so that you can't tell which one you're looking at, and there is no way to see the entire word without selecting it.
If it's the wrong one, you have to go through the entire process again. For example, if you looked up "Wal-Mart" in Jackson, MS you would see about 10 listings, but all you would see is "WAL-MART JACKSO..." and never the rest of the address. So you had to guess which one to select, and if it's wrong, back up and start over from the beginning.
This alone drove me nuts, but I had the most trouble with the software for the navigation. Periodically the unit would freeze, requiring a cold-start reboot. This generally wasn't too big an issue until once after a reboot the GPS came back up and it had lost the map info I placed on the SD card. So I was 3 hours from home, heading to a destination I was relying on the GPS to get me to when suddenly I had no map info. Because the maps are stored on an SD card I could not use the unit until I returned home and reloaded the maps.
After this incident I returned the unit. Navman makes some very nice GPS units, and maybe the newer, nicer units are the way to go. Unfortunately, this GPS unit is not worth the money at any price.
