Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (DVD, 2005, Features Special 2004 Star Voice Talent)

Anything by Studio Ghibli is worth owning, especially those directed my Miyazaki. Nausicaa is by far one of the best and most loved by our family for quite a while. I loved it when I saw it in the early 90's in its original japanese format, and my children love the Disney version. I bought this one, because my kids scratched a previous one from watching it so much. I wonder what took them so long to see that this studio has made films that go beyond most of what they come out with in scope and creativity. If you view one of Hayao Miyazaki's films, you're going to want them all in your collection...and I don't have any children! Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is a lot like Miyazaki's other films: lots of action, beautiful colors and animation and a very entertaining plot for the whole family. There is an environmental "moral to the story" with Nausicaa but it is not heavy handed. I have a difficult time saying which of Miyazaki's films is my favorite. I have Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delvery Service and Nausicaa and love them all!

I orginally saw this sweet little animated movie many years ago and it touched me with its inspirational story and simple meaning. I would reccomend it for any young viewers for its simple story line and wonderful animation.

I remember this movie from when I was a kid but could only remember parts of it. When I finally found out what the movie was called I had to buy it. And I am so glad I did, it really is a classic. I watched it with my 3 and 5 year old kids and they both wanted to watch it again and again. For me it was a blast from the past that I am glad I was given a chance to see again.

I bought this movie because I grew up watching it and want my children to enjoy it as well. It teaches good values that kids need to learn that society today no longer provides. Although the Disney revised edition has newly doubed voices it is still a good movie; it's just not as good as the original Engligh version that I grew up with. I noticed some of the names and words are pronounced differently but unless you've never seen it you won't notice. It's worth buying!!!!!

I love this movie. It's a great story, and has a good moral to it. It reminds me of Princess Mononoke in that it's telling us to take care of our world, and treat it, and all the creatures on it, with respect. The music is lovely, and the animation is wonderful as well. Also, I feel that like Mononoke this film has good english dubbing, and some excellent voice actors. I highly recommend this film.

In all honesty I give this movie a solid 5/5 rating. It is one of the best Studio Ghibli films that has been released by Disney to date, period. It has a near epic feel to it. The story follows Nausicaa, a princess from a future where man has ruined the planet by way of creating massive war machines that burnt the earth. In the fallout, the plants of the planet have become toxic to humans. The planet is "run" by giant insectoids called Ohms. The movie follows Nausicaa through adventures that she must overcome to not only save her people, but the entire way of life she and those in her time are accustomed to. She must appease the Ohms, save her city, and stop a brewing war between rival clans....You will not be let down by this movie!

The movie was delivered very fast. I was very happy with the movie but the DVD case was torn on the corner. I think that might of been from shipping.

The Movie is great loved every minute of it If You like anime you would like this Masterpiece. This is one of the best Studio Ghilbi Films and would recommend it to anyone who likes Studio Ghilbi Films or if you Like Miyazaki's work.

Anyone who enjoys anime and has a soft spot for environmental issues would love this movie. It examines the relationship humans have with the earth and what happens when we abuse and misuse the earth. The art is exquisite and the story is moving.
I recommend this to everyone over the age of 8 years old. It might be a little too in depth for a young child. All in all a wonderful movie to watch.

another wonderful hayeo miyazaki show...what can you say...like it better than most...had kind of a heavy metal feel at first...the artwork is awesome...nausicaa herself is sweet but strong...a heroine to love...her supporting cast is cool...and love the love interest she finds toward the end...its an incredible story...loved it...only castle in the sky was better to me

Another beautiful movie by Miyazaki. The animation is great, but the story is wonderful and inspiring as well as entertaining.

This is a wonderful film for the entire family. It is also a great film for advocates of keeping our earth clean and free from pollution. I would absolutely recommend this film.

Well to keep it simple Studio Ghibli has always produced excellent films. Nausicaa was made 1984 and it still stands strong by todays standards of Anime films. The original VHS release was shortend (86min) due to anime was a new type of film to the west. The DVD however has restored the full film and is now 116 min. Guys this film is in my opinion the pinnacle of Anime. A must have for any collector of Anime.

Never got this even though I paid upfront on time May 16th 2008. It is now July 7th 2008. I hope I get a refund. No communication, or attempt at refund. I believe they are scamming people out of money.

this movie is all about not repeating the past especially the bad things that have happened. it is a wonderful and very colorful story. another one of my daughters favorite hayoa miyazaki movies.

This is a delightful animated movie with a moral to the story. It is well worth watching. It is one of the best of Director Hayao Miyazaki's movies. The animation in the movie was well done.

I bought this movie to add to my collection of Miayzaki movies. I liked the movie very much and wouuld recommend it to any fan of anime.

I just cannot seem to get into Hayao Miyazaki's movies, but my three boys (11,9,6) love them. Nausicaa is a very intellengent fantasy adventure with a princess and lots of different odd looking bugs. It has a good message of taking care of our earth, loyality, and strength. The movie is strange but I'm not an eleven year old. I will eventually get more of his movies for them including the VERY unusual Spirited Away. They get the idea, I just don't.

I love this movie. Children who watch this can easily become aware of the theme of environmental sustainability used throughout the film. Other themes greatly neglected by American movies shown in this film are compassion for your enemies and selfless love. Miyazaki is a creative genius, releasing Nausicaa in the 1980's in Japan, and only recently has Disney realized his talent and bought him out.

One of miyazaki's best. THe animation isn't as clean cut as spirited away or howl's moving castle but it is a definate get for anyone. Get it in english for the kids or adult. I really liked it in japanese since as usual disney takes some of the original work out and translates somethings differently. But both versions do the film justice.
