Synopsis
Kevin Trudeau is a writer of books on memory enhancement, and is famous for having been the star of many infomercials for health products. In NATURAL CURES "THEY" DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT, the "they" he refers to are the pharmaceutical firms and the government agencies which Trudeau believes work against access to good information about health care. The food products we buy in stores are toxic, he says, causing disease and generating huge profits for drug companies. Trudeau suggests a range of alternative therapies and approaches that he says can help promote health and restore vitality.

Natural Cures Kevin Never Tells You About...

My opinion about this book is on the fence. There are things I loved about it and things I hated about it. I'll start with the negative, though, so I can end on a positive.

First, Trudeau's book is full of repetition. I'm sad to say that I feel Mr. Trudeau could have said in 125 pages what he said in 273. Second, the author NEVER discloses any "natural cures", at least not at any significant level. His reasoning being that the FDA has prevented him. Whether this is true or not (and I can just as easily believe that it IS), the thing that troubled me was his repeated referral to his two web-sites: one that, after two years, apparently is still in the process of being set-up; one that charges you for membership before you can access it for all those natural cures he alludes to in his book. He constantly talks about how the medical industry is not in it for the healing... that "it's all about the money". Unfortunately, with a site that charges $10/mo. (or $999 for a lifetime membership) and a $29 (retail) book that pretty much just tells you to go to the site, Mr. Trudeau seems to be as much "about the money" as the agencies and organizations he scrutinizes and criticizes in his book.

On the positive side: the author shares about his past health issues and WHY this issue is so important to him. He brings up major points about the motivations of HMOs and pharmeceutical companies that should make any American adult at least ponder the merit of his concerns. If anything, Chapters 6 and 11 made me feel like my investment in the book wasn't a total waste. The first, "How Never To Get Sick Again" lists 111 lifestyle changes you can make (some or all) over time in order to break away from viscious cycle that apparently exists within our current food and health culture. The second chapter is a list of all the books and resources Mr. Trudeau has read to come to the conclusions that he presents in this book. I am enjoying perusing them.

If you buy this book retail, you've wasted your money. If you buy it at a site like half.com, it's worth the investment.

      2004 Version Not Good
    Review created: 10/04/05

The 2004 version of this book is not good. It tanilizes the reader by introducing a subject but never giving a concrete solution to the problem. Instead it directs the reader to the author's web site or an article. The 2005 version has more details. Also, the 2004 verson does not have an index for the reader to go to their specific area of interest. I do not recommend the 2004 verson.
