not quite rising above nor dropping far enough

Farce has a duty to rise above the subject, and parody the need to drop into the basement and dig the dirt that was hidden. To be fully successful a parody-farce needs to have portions that rise above the material being referenced, showing the gold and silver threads of honest relationships, and to drop and dig the footing out beneath the feet of the hypocritical characters.
Unfortunately, this one does not go far enough in either direction, and winds up as the very hypocritical movie it should be laughing at.
